Obituary of Alvin Donald Badry
Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the sudden passing of our father Alvin “Al” Badry on June 18, 2023 in Fort St John, BC. Al was born on November 9, 1948 in Galahad, AB to Raymond and Vera Badry. He was raised on a farm near Heisler, AB along with seven brothers and two sisters. He met the love of his life, Colleen at their junior high school in Daysland. The childhood sweethearts would then marry in 1969. They moved to Fort St. John, BC where Al worked to obtain his refrigeration mechanic ticket. Along with his brother Wayne, they opened Al-Way Refrigeration. He would eventually open a second business Cal-Tec Refrigeration with his wife, Colleen. When the time came for Al to retire, Quentin picked up right where his father left off and continues the operation of Cal-Tec Refrigeration to this day. Al and Colleen spent many weekends camping, river boating, spending time at the lake, sledding with their friends and family. Al loved to garden and was a great cook. He was well known for being able to fix anything and he was very innovative when fixing or engineering something he needed but could not find. He was very giving of his time, knowledgeable about many things and was always willing to help.
He will be sadly missed and is survived by his children Leslie (Dan), Quentin, Pamela (Adam) and his beloved grandson, Ryan. As well as sister Jeanette (Al), brothers Vern (Jeannine), Wayne (Joanne) and Rick (Carol) sister-n-law Donna; in-laws Aunt Angeline, Verna (Ian), Bev, Maureane (Dale), Jane (Dave), Dale (Adrian), Brent (Kathy) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife Colleen, parents Raymond and Vera Badry, sister Dorothy and brothers Lloyd, Ron, Doug and Girvin. In-laws Marvin and Lauraine.
The funeral will be held on August 19, 2023 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Heisler, AB.
The funeral mass is at 1:00 followed by a gathering in the Heisler community hall for a light luncheon.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kordyban Lodge in Prince George, BC.
