Obituary of Joanne Walsh

With a heavy heart, we share the passing of Joanne Walsh, age 66, in Windsor, Ontario on March 22, 2023. Joanne passed away peacefully with family at her side at Windsor Regional Hospital MET Campus. A beloved mother to Tara and Eric (Melanie), grandmother to Cassandra and Isabelle, step-grandmother to Isabelle and Chloe; sister to Michael, Michelle (Dave), Gayle (Bill) and Cyril (Christine). Also leaving to mourn her beloved dogs Sadie and Jewel, her best friends Karen and Ellen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She is pre-deceased by her mother Marie (nee Gearin) and father Cyril. Joanne was dearly loved by many close friends and former colleagues at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets and hats for people. She never missed a Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays game. She was the proudest Newfoundlander you could ever meet. Joanne will be eternally missed. There will be a celebration of life occurring this summer in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to any local animal shelter or the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
