I car pooled with George as a summer student at Bruce B (in the early 80's), and we were neighbors for years. I thought the world of George. He was one of the kindest people I ever knew. A real solid guy. I still think in awe about the stories of his photographic memory. He gave me lots of advice for my university studies. He was just a really good guy. I feel very sorry about this news. God bless you Denise and family.

I also worked with George at BNPD Construction with fond memories of George and Denise at dances. My memory is George commiserating with me about my decision to become a Chief Steward at a time when the future was full of uncertainty. It was appreciated.

So sorry to hear of George's passing. We worked together at BNPD Construction from early 1980's until 1993. Wonderful times. Lots of partying and dances. Recall playing air guitar with George at one memorable construction dance! Condolences to Denise and Family. Have attached a photo of Denise and George from their farewell party in 1993.

Denise. We just learned of George’s passing. We have such good memories of you both and the family from your days of living and working in the Bruce. Steve will never forget George visiting him in the hospital during his first hip surgery. He was having a bad day and George brought him laughter and friendship. Thinking of you and wishing you well.

I remember George as a great friend during our university years together in Waterloo. He was always upbeat and outgoing, and these traits lifted us all when our engineering studies were difficult.
Later when George and Denise had started their family, our young family would visit in Kincardine. The six kids all enjoyed these visits.
So sad to have a friend leave us at such a young age.
Rest In Peace, George.

George will be missed. I was fortunate to share living accommodations with George, along with others, including Dave Naylor, Jim Maltby and Mike Smith, while we all attended our Civil Engineering Bachelors Degree training at University of Waterloo graduating in 1978. George was a warm and humorous classmate and colleague. Even then, George was devoted to Denise, later his dear wife.
He will forever be fondly remembered.
My sympathies to the entire Somogyvary family.
