She was 100 years of age. Wanda was born on April 9th 1922, the sixth of nine children born to Adela & Michael Sokolowski in Hubbard, Saskatchewan. She attended St. Stanislaus School, only 1 ½ miles from the farm. Growing up on the farm part of a large family was fantastic. Wanda was a bit of a tomboy and was usually found jumping off the barn roof into the haystack just like her brothers. The evenings would find her singing with her sisters. Blessed with beautiful voices the sisters singing in harmony was the talk of the area. Wanda met her husband Mike when he was home on leave from the Air Force in 1942. Before he reported back for duty he had asked her to marry him, she said yes…. maybe. Wanda traveled by train to Ontario where she and Mike were married in October of 1942. Wanda was the typical military wife, looking after their home, and spending time with other military wives. After the war the new family of three made their way back to Ituna in the summer of 1947.

Wanda was an accomplished curler and enjoyed most sports, but mainly an avid Blue Jay’s and Roughrider fan. She and Mike were season ticket holders for nearly 50 years. A gifted artist, an avid golfer, and a songstress and composer, Wanda dedicated her life to family, church and various local organizations. She worked for Statistics Canada for a couple of years, and then as the Activity Director at the Ituna Lodge.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Mike in 2000; her youngest son Larry in 2018; and by eight of her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Bob (Dianna) of Regina; daughter Lynn (Steve) Morrison of Edmonton; daughter-in-law Kim Dushinski. Also grandchildren: Jill Belof, Jana Okrainetz, CJ Dushinski, Lauren Ells, Adam Morrison, Erin Parsons and Brittany Morrison; great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Brynn Belof, Isabella and Charlie Okrainetz, Charlotte and Julia Morrison, Kylo and Bennett Ells. Also a sister, Rita Bryne of Windsor, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends.
