Obituary of Murrell Howell

HOWELL HATTERAS, NC MURRELL E. AUSTIN HOWELL, 87, of Hatteras, NC and Philadelphia, Pa, died, Friday, January 14, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Philadelphia, Pa. Mrs. Howell was born in Hatteras and was a homemaker and member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Perry E. and Nevada Gaskins Austin and was raised by her grandparents Willard and Henrietta Nebraska Gaskins Burrus and was the step-daughter of the late Mildred A. Gaskins. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband Charles Allen Howell. Surviving are two daughters: Carole Howell of Philadelphia, Pa and S. Vernell H. Dorner of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; one son: Wendell A. Howell of Pocomoke, MD; two sisters: Roberta Schaap of Virginia Beach, Va and Elida D. Staggs of Sioux City, Iowa; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at 12:00 p.m. in Twiford Island Chapel by the Rev. Dwight Burrus and Rev. Charles Moseley. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Hatteras. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
