Obituary Gregory Michael McWilliam suddenly passed away in the Fort St. John General Hospital on Monday, September 28, 2009, at the age of 49. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and best friend, Val, his three beautiful daughter Stephanie (Bruce), Kaylie (Ryan), and Cassandra, beloved granddaughter Brooke-lynn, father Sandy, brothers Howard (Shelley), and Rod (Bev), sister Heather (Kwok Shing), and all of their families. Greg was predeceased by his mother Myrna in 1997.Greg was born April 30, 1960 in the Fort St. John General Hospital. He was raised and educated in the area and loved playing baseball and rep hockey in the Pee Wee and Bantam leagues. Among the many sports that Greg enjoyed, fishing was right on top. In the late 70's Greg started working for Plains Western Gas as a welder's helper. When the company changed their name to Inner City Gas (ICG) Greg continued working for them in the construction field.In the early 80's Greg decided to try something new. He started working for Neudor Trenching which subsequently contracted gas installation work to ICG. While working with Neudor Greg had the opportunity to learn how to run backhoes, trenchers, and gained experience supervising crews. From Neudor Greg moved on to Earl Alexander & Sons, who also contracted gas installation work to ICG. On December 14, 1988 Greg took a posting back at the local gas company who then changed their name to Centra Gas.It was in the early 90's that Greg met and immediately fell in love with his loving wife Val. To those who knew them best, it was no surprise when they announced their engagement months later. As Greg opened his heart to Val, he also embraced his new family. This was his dream come true. The two enjoyed many evenings of baseball tournaments, camp fires and hanging out with friends. In the winter season you could always see them on the ice at the Curling Rink while Greg never missed the chance to play nine holes in the summer. As time went on and life experiences were learned, Greg got to watch his family graduate and get married. One of his most cherished moments was meeting his granddaughter Brooke-Lynne for the first time.Greg spent the last 21 years of his career working for PNG where his knowledge and experience will greatly be missed. It will be hard to find anybody to fill the shoes he left behind. Those that knew Greg best will always remember him for his kind heartedness, his integrity, his honesty, and his love for his family. He always kept a very special place in his heart for his family and friends. For that, we will always be proud to have call Greg our "Dear Friend". So long Greg, you will be missed.
