Terrance Lee Wiebe
Sept. 15, 1958 – Sept. 1, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Terry Wiebe of Buick, BC.
Terry left behind his partner Jackie Jackson, his brother Darrel Wiebe, his sons Chance (Christa and children Zeke & Saige), Chad (Brooke and daughter Scarlett), Ben (Katelyn and daughters Abbie, Cassie and Ava) and step children Jennifer (Gary and children Micheal, Drayden, Sierra, granddaughter Myla), Kurtis (Angelina and children Makynli, Kayden), Dave (children Talon, Aubrey), Jason (son Kane), Kris (children Talon, Kaison, Rachelle, grand children Wyatt, Walker, Madeline), Jeremy (Sue). Terry was pre-deceased by his parents John and Ruby Wiebe and stepson Kris.
Terry was born in Calgary, Alberta and was raised on a mixed farm near Daysland, Alberta. Here his passion for the western lifestyle and raising livestock began, and where his 3 sons were born. The family farm was sold and he focused on long haul truck driving for several years. His dream of cattle ranching became a reality with the purchase of a ranch near Caroline, Alberta. Shortly thereafter he saw opportunity to ranch on a much larger scale and in 1996 he moved the family up to Buick, BC and started Rawhide Cattle Company.
Terry was passionate about developing the ranch and worked tirelessly to make it happen. The ranch expanded dramatically over the years with the help of his sons and the odd hired hand. There were many challenges, but Terry had an optimistic nature to him that always pushed through when hurdles were presented, and he was never afraid to learn and try something new. In the past few years, he continued to ranch but took great pride in the purchase of a Peterbilt truck which carried him over many miles hauling loads of cattle around the community and as far north as Alaska.
Terry was a passionate leader within the cattle industry and excelled in the board room. He contributed to countless committees including the local North Peace and BC provincial Bred Heifer and Feeder Associations, the Cattle Industry Development Council, and nationally as a board member for Canada Beef.
Terry was a simple and straightforward man. He enjoyed what he did and never asked for anything in return. He cherished the little things such as a day in the saddle, a good meal, a visit with another rancher and time spent with his grandkids. Terry was one of those tough cowboys on the outside, but had a kind, caring and gentle nature on the inside. He cared deeply for his family, his animals, and the community. He touched many lives throughout the years and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Terry Wiebe will be held on Tuesday September 27 at 2 pm at the Thiessen Brothers Ranch in Buick, BC.
