Obituary
Joseph (Bill) William Streeper was born on May 27th, 1952.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Woods and Patricia, his sisters Mildred Cornish,
Grace Bumstead, Elaine Streeper, Barbara Craig-Hansen,
brothers Dick and Doug Streeper, and his son John Streeper
Bill left behind his fiancé Chastity, children Elaine and Bernard, stepchildren Hadley, Chloe
and Jewels, grandchildren Rheanne, Walker, Lindsay, Jordan, Kaydan, Sadie, Olivia, Margo
And siblings George, Gloria, Donald, Louise
He was a long resident of Fort Nelson, BC. He was a businessman of many companies
that operated in the Northern Rockies.
Bill’s legacy will be remembered as his dedication to the community of Fort Nelson.
He held public office in the Northern Rockies from 2002 to 2018 and served as Mayor for
10 of those years.
Bill was a philanthropist, donating his stipend from public office to the Fort Nelson
Hospital Foundation and then later to the Northern Rockies Senior Society along with
many other donations.
He played a major roll in getting the Bailey Bridge on the Liard Highway to the Northwest
Territories replaced as well he was instrumental in the building of the NRRM’s new
Recreation Center

Streeper Contracting was named Business of the Year in both 2000 & 2005
Bill received the Citizen of the Year award in 2005
Bill & Sheryl Streeper received the Community Leader award together in 2011
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal on September 13, 2012
Bill passed away peacefully in the Vancouver hospital on November 5, 2022 with Chastity
and Hadley by his side.
