Obituary of Wilma Mae Stewart
Obituary
Wilma Mae Stewart passed away peacefully December 4th, at the age of 94.
Wilma was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan to Ross and Ada Marsh on July 18th, 1928. She was the youngest of three children and grew up on a farm just outside of town. Mom always spoke fondly of her childhood years even though there were difficult times. As a young woman she started training to become a pharmacist but then married and became devoted to her family.
Wilma met Orville Stewart when she was just a schoolgirl. The story goes that she would complain to her mother about him always plunking his heavy boots on the back of her chair and generally irritating her. Young love.
Wilma and Orville were married on the Arcola farm on July 19th, 1948. They moved from small town to small town, following Orville’s job with the grain elevators, until taking the journey to Fort St John to pursue the oil industry. They had moved 17 times before moving here in the early 1960’s and calling Fort St John home ever since.
Wilma and Orville had five children, Penny (Cameron), Bradley, Kim, Jim and Tracy. She had an endless love for her family and they were always the focus of her life. She really enjoyed and participated in large, loud family gatherings. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, curling, jigsaw puzzles and word games. Arriving at her house, the TV would usually be either playing a game show or a Blue Jays game. She and Orville also travelled quite a bit with numerous cruises, trips to England and Australia, and winters spent in California.
Wilma was predeceased by her husband Orville and children Penny and Bradley. Alongside her three surviving children she leaves to mourn eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Wilma loved well and was truly well loved.
We’ll miss you!
