I will always have have the fondest memories of Uncle Wes. He always made me feel welcome and at home. He teased me mercilessly and was never afraid to kick me in the butt if he felt I needed it (and most times I did). He was rough and gruff on the outside and mushy and soft on the inside. He was an integral part of my childhood. My heart goes out to Kathy and of course my cousins. Love you all

My husband Cliff and I knew Wes years ago from when he was into construction in fsj. Great guy! I often talked about his heritage, seeing if we "connected" seeing my father, Gordon Snider was also born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on November 20, 1927. Tisdale was, and still is a very small area to have two different families with the same spelling of the name Snider living there to not be related, even if way back. We never made the connection though.A candle was lit

I was raised as a youngster just up the hill beside Wes's farm. So many great memories of Wes as I grew, he rescued me numerous times when I got my Dad's snowmobile stuck or my motorbike would break down when I was a small boy. He gave me a job fencing 21 miles of Barbwire fence in Bear Canyon community pasture as a young 15-year-old, I bought my first pair of cowboy boots with the money. Great memories of his laughter and smiles at Brandings in the spring, he made sure we kids got in there to wrestle calves and have fun. I shot a couple of moose with him and spent a lot of time visiting. I have great memories of growing up beside Wes and family. He made my Dad a beautiful wooden bowl for his 80th Bday recently. We'll all miss him and his kindness very much, my deepest condolences to the family!

Im no woodworker, but Wes was. Id see his work in peoples houses, stores around town and just stop for a while to admire the flawless joinery in his cutting boards and the bowls hed turn on the lathe. Im sure someone has already mentioned it elsewhere, but the wood he used was all salvaged. Wes was that kind of guy: he could take something that didnt look like much and develop the potential in it (often with the use of steel and abrasives! Wink wink!). Ive had a piece of oak in my basement for 20 years and when I finally get around to doing something with it, Ill have to channel Wes and see if he can help me bring the beauty out in it. Blessings to Wes and family. Youll be missed. Lots of love & deepest sympathies.
