Obituary of Steve Townsend

Obituary With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Son and Friend, Stephen Lyle Townsend (Tank). Steve passed away May 28, 2023, in Prince George, BC at 57 years of age. He was born August 27, 1965, in Vancouver, BC and was the first child born to parents Don and Irene Townsend. Steve is known for his love of sports. You would often find him on the ball diamond with his baseball team the Strikers, on the ice playing hockey, or relaxing with family and friends with a rod in hand trying to make that big catch. His love of baseball and hockey started at a young age when living in Kamloops, BC. A passion he carried on into his adult years when he started coaching. They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and this is definitely the case when it came to Steve’s professional career. He worked along side his father Don surveying until 2000 and then moved on to work for McElhanney in Fort St. John, BC for 23 years. His years of service show his dedication to his profession and his loyalty to the McElhanney company. Steve is predeceased by his grandparents Anna & Frank and Ursula & Norm , Joy Townsend (mother to son Gavon), niece Kayla, Aunt Lynn and best friends Guy, Reg (forever known as the three amigos). Steve will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Angie, his beloved children Gavon, Shelbie, Dana and Paige, parents Don and Irene, siblings Scott (Dee) and Kim (Brent), grandchildren Brooklynn, Blake, Teigan, Kartier, Madeleine, Ameliyah, and Sterling, aunt Donela, nieces and nephews Keisha, Jayce, Nicole and Michael, and Elizabeth (grandmother to Gavon). The family will forever be grateful for close friends Terry and Trevor who never left Steve’s side, thank you. We will forever remember Steve’s smile, his incredible sense of humour and his ability to be gentle and kind to everyone around him. His legacy will live on in those he loved most, and his memory will carry with each of us every time we find ourselves doing something that Steve loved.
