A Memorial tree was ordered in memory of Andrew Philip by Dennis and Karen Townsend. Plant a TreeOur condolences to Gwen, Kelsey and Christine. Andrew was a brother-in-law and a friend. Always there to lend a helping hand and to give us advice about the computer or cooking etc. carving the turkey or ham. Your hearty laugh will be missed around the dinner table. We will miss you dearly Andrew Rest Peacefully and fish for the big ones Dennis and Karen Townsend

We both worked at The Bay during High School 79 - 81. Many of us knew each other from there. At times it could be a fun place to work . Like when the power went out and a few of us would run behind the candy counter and help Ourselves to a sweet treat. I think Randy R. Was usually the first one there. Thats how I remember you. A hard worker who walked very fast getting from job to job within The Bay.

I met Andrew in Yellowknife as a teenager over 40 years ago and will never forget our fishing and camping trips. I will remember him as the smartest guy in the room and, yes, that laugh. RIP Andrew.

Farewell Dear Brother. It is with great sadness I say goodbye to my beloved brother Andrew . Andrew grew up in Montreal after being born in Belleville, Ontario . At the earliest age he demonstrated a great ability to get along with others and very strong abilities in mechanics , electronics and the outdoors. He loved Star Trek and Science Fiction. As a 10 year old he collected discarded bike parts and ran a bicycle parts / repair service for the neighborhood kids at little or no charge. When he was 12 he made Star Trek Captains Chair with all the toggle switches and lights. He honed his fly fishing cast by practicing on 53 St in Yellowknife and was tied his own flies by age 16,He worked at the Yellowknife Bay Northern Store during high school and became a department manager before heading south to study instrumentation and start his long career in the energy industry. He will truly be missed by all his many friends, coworkers and family. Farewell Dear Brother, I wish you all the best on this next journey and hope the trout are big and biting. Rest in Peace Andrew, your family loved you dearly.

Farewell my Dear Brother.Andrew was a self starter with a flair for science and the outdoors, a man well liked by all his peers, classmates and coworkers. After being born in BellevilleAndrew grew up in Montreal where he quickly proved himself to have a congenial personality as well as a flair for mechanics, electronics, science and the outdoors.As a young boy he loved Star Trek and built a Captain's Chair , he had a 200 in 1 Electronics Kit and absolutely loved fishing, camping and the like. When the family moved to Yellowknife NWT in late 1976, he was in his element. By age 16 he was tying his own flies and mastered the cast by practicing on 53Rd street. He loved fishing & hunting in the YK area and was always game for an outing in high school. After high school , when not fishing , he was building. He bought the early Commodore Vic 20 computer and programmed it to draw color spirographs using an old TV set as the monitor. He worked at The YK Bay Northern Stores as a Department Manager before moving south to study Instrumentation and starting his career in the energy sector. He was a polite, well mannered man who will be dearly missed by all his friends, coworkers, classmates and many, many others. Rest in peace my dear brother we wish all best on your new journey, may the trout be big and biting where ever it takes you.

Andrew and I became life long friends starting in Yellowknife in 1978. His can-do approach to every adventure and obstacle we faced as teenagers was inspiring, as was his positive attitude and infectious laugh. Andrew was a steadfast friend whom I loved very much. I will miss you buddy.
