Allan "Norris" Noble

Norris Noble passed away in the Fort St. John General Hospital on June 14, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Norris was born May 30, 1949, the sixth child in a family of eight. He was raised on the family farm in Saskatchewan. Norris received his formal education at Wilson Lake School and Sonningdale High School. In June 1969 Norris moved to Fort St. John after graduating. He was employed as an equipment operator for Hirtz Bros. Construction locally and in the Arctic. In the summer of 1972, he was hired by then Dominion Steel and was employed as yard supervisor/delivery man until he retired in June 2019, when the local business was closed down. During these forty-seven years, the business was bought and sold several times. He was a responsible, dedicated, trustworthy and reliable employee who showed up each day ready to work. Norris was cheerful in all kinds of weather.
As a young man, Norris enjoyed baseball curling, track and field and badminton. In later years Norris enjoyed following some of the major sports on T.V. and coached a ladies soft ball team for a few years in Fort St. John. His hobbies and interests/passions included: gardening, flowers, fruit producing shrubs and trees and growing tomatoes both in the garden and his greenhouse. For entertainment, he enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and watching a wide variety of television shows and socializing with family and friends. Norris was a self-educated and well- read individual. His reading topics were divergent... from the galaxies to geology. Norris enjoyed all aspects of the natural world and was an avid observer of wildlife, weather and plants. His favorite magazine while younger was the "Reader's Digest" and in later years "National Geographic” was enjoyed immensely.
Norris was proud and pleased with the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and a loyal friend who graciously shared his bountiful garden produce as well as his time and talents. Many projects were accomplished with Norris donating his time to help others. He was a kind and compassionate man. Norris is survived by his children: Lesley, Morgan and Tracey, grandchildren & great grandchildren and by his siblings: Larry, Lois (Melton), Lona (Rod), Ellen (Gerald), Kelvin (Carol) and Maxine (Dick), numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Marvin. He will be missed by many.
