Obituary of Ellen L. McMahon
TROY -
Ellen L. McMahon, 74 of Troy, entered into rest on September 26, 2022, in the comfort of her own home with her loving family by her side.
The daughter of the late John and Frances (Ostrander) Adams, Ellen was born on August 8, 1948, in Troy.
She was raised and educated in Troy, a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Ellen raised her family and resided in Troy her entire life.
She was employed by the Federal Government with the Social Security Administration with 30 years of service. Concurrently, Ellen was employed by Pioneer Bank for 18 years.
Mrs. McMahon was a member of the North American Ballroom Dancing Association for a number of years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, needlepoint, spending time with her family, and shopping with her Granddaughter, Emma.
Survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Michael J. McMahon, of Troy, whom she married on May 30, 1969, at St. Joseph's Church in Troy. She was the devoted mother of Bryan and Michelle. The cherished grandmother of Jakob Seaburg and Emma McMahon. Dearest sister to: Josephine Chandler (Glenn) and Frances Cordi (Michael). Ellen was a part of a very large family, including 2 surviving sisters-in-law, Noreen
McMahon (Tom Charette) and Shelia McKeon (Art Kling).
In addition to her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her parents-in-law: John and AnnaMary McMahon, as well as 12 brothers (and her sisters-in-law) and more than 60 Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The McMahon Family wishes to thank the wonderful care at Samaritan Hospital and the caring members of Hospice, as well as the many friends and relatives that stopped by the hospital and the house, and those who have called and sent flowers and cards to Ellen during her brief illness.
Funeral Services will commence at 11AM on Saturday, October 1st from The Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Troy, followed by interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery in South Troy.
The Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Friday evening (September 30th) from 4-7PM in The Riverview Funeral Home.
