Obituary of Anthony M. Mantello

TROY - Anthony M. Mantello, 93, of Troy, entered into rest peacefully on June 8, 2023, with his loving family by his side. The son of the late Chester and Frances (Geracitano) Mantello, Anthony was born in Troy on January 13, 1930. He was a lifelong resident of Troy, attended local schools and was raised in South Troy on the corner of 5th & Ferry. Anthony joined the United Army in 1951 and served through 1954. He continued service in the Reserves until 1957 and received an honorable discharge for his service. Mr. Mantello then worked in construction as a laborer. He was employed by Freihofer's from 1974 until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Mantello was formerly a member of St. Patrick's Church in Troy and served as an usher. Anthony loved to travel and see the world with his wife and family. He also enjoyed bowling and playing horses. Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Antoinette (Byra) Mantello, whom he married in 1954 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford, CT. Anthony is also survived by one son, Craig Mantello (fianc Brenda Peregrim) two grandchildren: Jordan and Samantha Mantello and many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his siblings: Theresa Ciccarelli, Dominick, Nicholas, Joseph, James and Salvatore Mantello, Mary Elden, an infant sister Annarose Mantello, one son, Wayne Mantello and daughter-in-law Coleen Mantello. Anthony, himself, as a dying wish, wanted to personally thank Jill and the nursing staff of the B-2 Unit at Van Rensselaer Manor who took excellent care of him during his stay. Anthony also wishes to thank his nephews: Jackie and Michael and nieces: Debbie, Darlene, Carole, Justine, and her husband Gary for spending time with him by reminiscing and bringing him food. Thence to: Our Lady of Victory Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM Entombment will follow the mass in the Mausoleum at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
