Obituary of Sheila Hanshaw
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Hanshaw, life-long resident of Pouce Coupe, Brititsh Columbia, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the age of 62 years.
Sheila was born on September 10, 1960, to Robert Hanshaw & Brigitte Dostal in Pouce Coupe Hospital. In 1985, she unknowingly met her lifelong soulmate Pete, by finding his lost dog Tiny. She came across Tiny while she was attending to her horses that were kept at the barns and they have been inseparable ever since 1985. They raised two beautiful daughters together Skye (Trystan Berekoff) Hanshaw & Shell (Blair Bassett) Hanshaw. Later in life she was blessed with an amazing granddaughter London Ruby; those two were beyond inseparable when ever she came to grandmas house for a visit. Sheila was always extremely hardworking and ambitious when it came to her work endeavours. In her early working career, she worked in a few different restaurants as she attended Northern Lights College for Business Administration which resulted in her being an incredible cook. She then went onto having a very successful 21-year career at DCNH where She ended up meeting both of her dearest friends Michelle Calliou & Jocelyn Wall. Sheila was the Project Program Coordinator for Driver House which was designed by world renowned Aboriginal Architect Douglas Cardinal. Through out her life she was always a small business owner/operator of some kind. She operated the Lottery Kiosk in the Dawson Creek Mall for over 8 years where she met many amazing friends that were like family. She poured her heart and soul into the business which showed to all customers and patrons.
Everyone who knew Sheila knew how amazing She was. Sheila was full of light, joy and positivity, traits that were obvious to all after even just a single meeting with Sheila.
Sheila was passionate about her time being spent with her family and friends that is when she was truly most happy all through out her life. She was always passionate about horses, and she spent many years taking care of them with her childhood friends Fay & Bev Patterson. She absolutely loved Elvis Presley and his music, anytime his songs would play she greatly enjoyed them. When she wasnt filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found out in her beautiful flower garden.
She will forever be remembered for her kind-hearted nature, being an inspirational mother figure, her generosity to those in need and her hardworking determination. She always made it her mission to improve the lives of others. We will miss her more than words can say.
