Obituary of Henry Jones
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Carl Jones, longtime resident of the Peace Country, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the age of 76 years.
Henry was born in Penticton BC on January 16, 1946. He was the fourth child of Herbert Eldon Jones and Amelia Valentine Jones nee Kester. At the age of nine the family moved to Dawson Creek. Henry spent the rest of his life in the Peace country.
Henry had two sons: John Henry Jones in 1984 and James Lee Jones in 1985. The boys were his absolute pride and joy, he loved being with them and would regularly take the boys in a car seat on the combine and swather with him. In 2006 Henry welcomed Wendy Rose into the family when she and John married. The following few years were busy ones with the addition of Jay, Jenna and Jillian, precious grandchildren that brought such joy to Henry's life.
In 1992 Henry married Myrna Helen Bradford Gething and acquired 3 stepchildren: Donelda, Andrew, and Christopher.
Henry loved fishing, camping, traveling and family. Many trips to Las Vegas, Reno, Utah, bus tours, England, Mexico, the Yukon, Edmonton, and every interesting lake to fish brought much joy to him Binta and Carp Lake being the favorites.
He loved movies, for many years James would come for supper every Friday evening, then they would go to a movie.
When people speak of Henry there is often remarks of his wicked sense of humor. He could turn an innocent remark or word into something totally different and always hilarious. When he sang, which he often did, he usually changed the words to suit himself and whatever his circumstances were at that moment.
Henry is survived by his wife Myrna, sons John (Wendy), James, stepson Andrew Briggs (Sherry) stepdaughter Donelda Nelson (Frank) 11 grandchildren: Rebecca, Marcy, Candice, Araina, Jenna, Jillian, John Nelson, Travis, Nathan, Tyrell and Jay; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons; sisters, Carol (Sherman), Kathy (Tim); brothers Dan (Cheryl) David (Pam) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
