Fred Burton

Obituary of Fred Burton

Fred passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 at the age of 65 with his family by his side. He was born July 20, 1957 in Fort St. John and grew up on the family farm in North Pine, where he inherited his love of agriculture from his parents and grandparents. Fred was active in 4H, and continued to be involved by volunteering, including judging competitions. He travelled to Australia for an agricultural exchange program, where he learned numerous techniques in sheep husbandry and shearing wool. He has maintained a flock of sheep throughout the rest of his life, later adding horses, llamas, and a flock of exotic chickens. A man of many talents, he attended the animal health program at Fairview College, later working on the Northern Lights College farm with reindeer, bison, cows and pigs. He was always eager to help any farmers in the region, often driving from one community to another, sons in tow. He loved staying active with sports, most notably hockey, and volunteered in multiple capacities with the Junior Canucks. Most of his adult life was spent as a busy, single father. He later met his future wife Jacqui, and became a step father to Heather and Cajun. He moved from his farm in Progress to live with Jacqui in Gundy, where they started a farm together and they lived happily there for 12 years. A great loss will be felt by his wife, Jacqui; children Christopher (Alisha) Burton, Clifford Burton; stepchildren, Heather (Clinton) Stratuliak, Cajun Bardgett; four beloved grandchildren; sisters, Bev Burton, Sharon (Richard) Swan and Ruth (John) Colombina; numerous nephews, nieces, and great nephew and nieces as well as many extended family and friends. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
