Obituary of Susan Doris Cake

It is with unbelievable sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Doris Cake (nee Currie), aka Susie Q, Mommy, and Grandma on February 13, 2023. She passed peacefully with her family by her side. Susan was born to George and Alma Currie on December 5th, 1949 in Windsor, ON. Susie was always outside enjoying her gardens and could be found at her cottage on hot summer nights, hanging out by the campfire with family and friends, appreciating the dark, starry skies. She loved her Klie’s Beach friends and all the memories made in and around Colchester/Harrow area. Susie was world-renowned for her taco dip, holiday spreads, and her infectious laugh. Nothing made her happier than helping people and finding a good deal. She could often be found at Costco, Winners or yard ‘sailing’ with Bob patiently in tow. Everyone always knew her love language was food, primarily baking and cooking and sharing with everyone and anyone. She loved having a house full of kids; adopting anyone who walked in the door as a new family member, sending them home with a full belly and an invite to return. Susie had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone, often at the sacrifice of herself. She will be sorely missed and survived by the love of her life of 20 years, her husband, Bob; brothers and sister, Wendell (Linda), Leigh, Linda (Billy); her children, Johnny, Michael, Jodi (Joe), Jeffery (Vanessa), Jenny, Brianna (Craig), Chantelle (George) and Donald; her grand-children, Cailin, McKenzie, Amber, Madison, Gracie, Marrion, Alyssa, Mariah, Nathan, Adelaide, Jeffery, Weston, and Zoey; and her dog, Shiloh, and cats, Mitzu/Beba, and Bangles. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alma, her granddaughter, Olivia and many, many pets. All who loved her, loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, dedication, generosity, and endless love and caring for them. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, and we know that although our hearts long for her to be here with us, she is riding horses on a beautiful beach in heaven!! As per Susie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at New Beginnings Community Church, 1731 Lesperance Rd. Tecumseh, ON, Open House from 1pm – 4pm.
