Pat was truly a great gentleman. His sense of humour and love of sports (especially his Steelers) endeared him to everyone. Also his love of family was truly special. May he rest in peace.

I met Pat's wonderful daughter Annemarie exactly one year before my father passed away. I had the privilege of calling Pat "Pops". We attended Spitfire games, Red Wing games and the last opening day game and final game at Tiger Stadium. We always had fun with him at family gatherings. I think that Winston Churchill was speaking of people like him when he wrote: "One mark of a great man is the power of making lasting impressions upon people that he meets."

Dad, this has been so hard. Its not the same without you. So many happy memories growing up, we all know it was not easy being a single parent to 4 kids. But you did a great job even though I didn't make it easy during my teenage years..lol! Sarah was so lucky getting to spend so much time with you when she was little..but she does remember that fruit cocktail you made her eat!! You were an awesome dad, papa and great papa. I will make sure my grandkids never forget about you. I know you will be looking down on Will playing his basketball games! I miss all the conversations about politics, sports and the world. You were so wise about everything and loved by so many Rest in peace sweet dad, until we meet again. I love you , Love, Annie xo

Where do I begin? The memories and thank you's are endless. Thank you Dad for staying with us kids from ages 10 to 2 yrs and being a single parent, for the sacrifices you made for us, your children, never wavering, for dressing us in the coolest clothes, for becoming my friend as I became a grown, married woman. The memories of running 1 marathon of the 3 you completed, the friendship of you & your love Frannie with me & my husband Manny. The past 3 yrs we have spent alot of time together. The Timmy's dates, the Kiwanis Park visits due to Covid. It all worked out. I will miss our nightly chats, the "I love you honey" and the "good night Manny, thank you buddy for everything". I wouldn't change a thing of my life except to have you here longer. I wasn't done with you yet Dad. I will love & miss you forever. "Night Dad, love you Dad" Until we meet again. May you rest in peace my best friend

I too met Pat at Tim Hortons. If I’m not mistaken it was he who first spoke with his humorous voice . That moment on we had a friendship that lasted til the day he passed . My wife and I would find him at Tim’s most days (back when he still drove ) sitting reading the sports section of any paper he could get his hands on . He called Tim’s his office and I would joke if we needed an appointment to sit with him .He made so many friends that most days if you didn’t arrive early you would miss out sitting at his table . He was someone who made you feel welcomed and how he would leave everyone with a smile on their faces .He never judged anyone but he could sense that everyone was going through something . He spoke highly of his family . His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him . He talked about his little great grandson Will who plays basketball and their conversations over the phone and how Will would tell his PaPa about not growing fast enough for playing basketball . Pat had a special bond for his family that he could not hide . From time to time I would drive him to Tim’s and he couldn’t thank me enough . The pleasure was all mine . My only regret was not spending more time with this beautiful soul one on one . I feel that I’m a better person just knowing him . RIP my friend .

Dear Dad,
Thank you for being a great single parent when times were tough. You taught responsibility ("Vacuum that dam red carpet"), mowing the lawn at 7.5 years old.
Thank you for all the rides to the grocery store & other places(vets with Oreo). Also
I'll miss our talks on the phone, talking sports, joking or just plain insulting each other in fun. Rest in peace my friend.
Love you always. Pat & Sharon

Will always have fond memories of joking around, talking sports, and solving the world's problems with Pat. Our friendship got off to a rocky start when i had the audacity to criticize union workers. After a few weeks in the doghouse, i was allowed to once again sit at his table at Timmy's. Pat will surely be missed.

I never gave him a chance when he met my mom. He put up with my teenage years with a lot of patience and humour But in papa fashion he won me over. He helped me in times of trouble and was there for me with a shoulder to cry on and wise words or a dumb dad joke to make me laugh. But what I love most about papa is that he loved my mom with all his heart. I know our path was rocky at times Papa, but there was never a day that went by that I didn’t appreciate our time together!!! You were an incredible male role model in my life!! You were my Dad. I love and will miss you greatly.

We knew Pat mainly through the eyes of his daughter Fran. There wasn’t a time where Fran didn’t share pictures and stories of a man who laughed, had friends and loved his family. He made single fatherhood look like a breeze which is amazing when you think of how rare the situation would have been…the lack of community supports, etc. What an example. What character.

My deepest sympathy to his family. Whenever I saw him at Tim Hortons with his daughter Maureen, he was always happy and smiling. Such a blessing to have him in your lives for so long.
