Rick, I will always remember the good times we shared.
Early teen years when you would bike to the house on Malden Rd and we would venture off on our bikes, many great times.
Our trip up to Teeswater to visit Uncle Roy and Aunt Lou. Good times.
The many times spent at the Airport Tavern, our great conversations and the many laughs we had together. (And the many beverages )
The many visits over the years, especially the last few years when we had our cousin get-togethers. Always a great time.

My heart is broken and I don’t know where to go or what to do next.My heart aches for you and I feel empty without you.I feel your presence and hope it gives me strength.
We are all in shock and can’t believe your gone.
You were my best friend and partner for forty six years and my life as it knew has now changed forever.
Rick you were so,so special in so many ways Rick you were unique,gentle,kind,sensitive,so intelligent and in my mind absolutely perfect in every way.My heart aches for you but I will try to take care of the girls the best that I can it won’t be easy without you because you took a piece of all of our hearts the day you passed away.
The sun is out today and I have to believe it’s your way to show me that you are here with us but loving us in a different way.
I can’t believe how lucky I was to be apart of your life.
Brooke and Andrew are taking care of everything as they struggle with their own broken hearts.I couldn’t be more grateful to them and can’t express how much that I needed them.
Donna has been here giving me such comfort and support.Both of our families have been here with comforting words and sharing memories that I know will last a life time.I wished the time was longer.
Steve and Laura have not left me out of their sight and their comforting words and kindness will never be forgotten they are apart of my world.

Rick was such a great neighbour and friend. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it was giving me tips on taking car of my pool or helping me with my bike. He was someone you wanted to sit next to at our neighbourhood get togethers because he was so hilarious and had such a quick wit. Then he would flash that charismatic smile that made you think he knew something you didn’t. It was part of his charm and made him an absolute delight to be around.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Robin, Brooke, Andrew and of course lovely Mickayla. Rick will be greatly missed.

As proud members of the Venetian community, we would like to express our most sincere condolences to Robin and family. Although we had not gotten to know each other very well yet, we always knew that Rick watched out for us from across the street. If he noticed anything even remotely suspicious in the area, he would let us know. It was a sense of security that we didn't realize we had until now. Robin, Brooke, Mickayla and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts and prayers go out to you. Rick was such an amazing person and will be missed by so many.
Rick was like a dad and Papa to our family since we met. He was here for us when our kids were just a thought, for the birth of our first child, front row at their baptism, birthday parties, you name it. We could not ask for a better couple to enter our lives in the most unexpected way.
Rick was so pleasant and easy to please. He enjoyed little things like a strawberry rhubarb pie from Costco, a bag (or half) of Pink Himalayan chips, and special beers from his best friend Steve. He was so calm, quiet, patient and smart. He was very proper and respectful, yet entertaining and comforting. Rick was a unique gem and a very special friend to us all. We will forever be grateful that Rick shared his life with us for the too-few years that we had together.
Rick’s taste in music was unmatched, from Rush, to Led Zeppelin, the Scorpions and the Beatles. What I appreciated most was having a fellow Beastie Boys fan to rock out with in the garage.
He loved nature and took care of many neighbourhood pets including Eddie, our fish, a baby cardinal, squirrels and a skunk. I’ll never forget him walking that skunk to the front yard every night around 10 pm, debating with him why he should use our garbage can for his 1 single bag of garbage, his chirping in the background every time Robin and I were midsentence on the phone, and coming out after dark to hit the spiders with a giant spoon. The sounds and animations he used in his stories were priceless and captivating. Steve’s favourites were the poop in the crib, the mouse in the BBQ, Doodles yacking in the track of the patio door and smoking her poop like a cigar, and Mischa chasing her tail, those never got old! The kids loved to play with Papa in the garage with little Easter eggs and were amazed watching him solve Rubik’s cubes for them. He would flick his slipper and win their hearts.
Rick was always there for our family anytime we needed something, never hesitated to offer rides to the airport at crazy times or watch our pets while we were away and was our go-to guy for anything and everything that we needed to know or fix. I’m so glad we spent the time we did with Rick and just wish we had more time together. It would never be enough.
Robin says she’ll continue her Thursday shopping trips to Shoppers, and it’s never twirly to have a drink.
Hope you rest in peace my friend, we miss you with all our hearts and will stay strong together until we meet again.

What can we say about an amazing man and neighbour. Rick was a true jack of all trades. Generous with his advice on just about everything. We will always remember his infectious smile and wit. There are many memories but the ones that stand out are when Mike would be watching a Tiger game inside and if there was a great play that he needed to share his enthusiasm. Mike would go outside and he knew Rick would be out in his garage listening to the game on the radio. Our sons were grateful benefactors to Rick’s bike expertise. Rick would not hesitate to help with a flat tire or an alignment issue. On our walks, if Rick & Robin’s garage door was open we knew we could stop by & say a quick hello & admire Rick’s impressive beer can art display.
Rick had a way of being a calming presence and on the flip side was a hilarious character you wanted to get in trouble with. We will truly miss Rick & the neighbourhood will not be the same without him.

Dearest Robin, Brooke, Mickayla, Andrew , Andie and Markus. We are so heartbroken to learn of Rick's passing.I have very fond memories of Rick. From seeing how very loving he was to all of you. I remember the days when Tim and I would spend many Friday nights at the sportsman's club on Dougal. We would always stay for last call and then head to Huskey truck stop for a 2:30 am breakfast where we would have so many laughs. I remember when Robin and Rick owned their place in Florida and Robin would call me and Rick would tell her to tell me phssssh( that was the sound of him opening a can of beer). Robin,
Sorry to hear of Ricks passing, we only met in person a few times, but it seems like we have known you both for years. To my brother, Steven Rick was and is the best. When Derek and I would phone to talk to Steven and Laura and the kids on the weekends, Rick and Robyn most times were always there having fun, lots of laughter and most times a scatter beer! Generous. That's how I knew Rick. And solid as the impressive family tree he built at Ancestry.
We met 10 years ago because of our shared French-Canadian ancestry. Actually, we can thank our Durocher and Hebert Great-Grandparents for creating connections among many, many of their descendants on both sides of the border. We were a group of second cousins brought together by our respect for our origins in Ontario, Quebec and Acadia, as well as by sheer fun -- of meeting in person at the Maple Leaf, of studying each other's family trees, and of keeping tabs through Facebook.
Rick was a really excellent genealogical researcher. If you get a chance, do check out his beautiful and voluminous family tree at Ancestry, called Taylor/Tousignant. It's brimming with carefully curated family photos, alongside personal and public documents, all giving life to thousands of his nearest and dearest family members. He built his family tree over decades, with enormous precision and with love.
Rick stood out to me as a genealogical friend and cousin because of his regular emails of newspaper clippings having to do with Hebert-related items, especially Abar's Tavern in Windsor. I'll always be grateful for his lasting focus on our shared heritage. And, for all of us who remain behind, I sure hope he's putting in a few good words with Antoine Durocher, Zoe and Elizabeth, and with Jean-Baptiste Hebert and Margaret McGregor.
I'll close by attaching a poem Rick sent me in 2014.

Where do I start with the memories by of Rick?! We spent so much time together in 10 years it really feels I like a lifetime! From trimming pool solar blankets in the driveway (we decided it was better to have a couple of beers instead and watch the blanket flap in the wind) to discussing Coldwater Cowboys at his bar over Manhattan’s and Kraken Rum! My frustration with Rick refusing to clay bar or wax his Jeep was overshadowed by my bewilderment at his attention to detail in the techniques he used to dry it! Donny worry Papa your secrets are safe with me. Whether it was Impromptu pizza parties in our garages, to complete mayhem at our house parties Rick was always the center of attention. He would captivate everyone with his stories of seeing Rush and Alice Cooper while he was in high school, being involved with a barn burning incident in his grade school years, or the time he passed on a used Dodge Daytona wing car because it wasn’t a daily driver…oh and the time he rad ripping down a country road in his Challenger watching the hood curl at the edges! Rick you’re going to be missed you Madman!! Grammy you had a one in a million with him. We all loved him deeply, the kids enjoyed how cool and smart he was…Isabelle was completely in awe of him!
