Obituary of Joan Mabel MacLean (nee Woods)

MacLEAN, Joan Mabel (nee Woods) October 11, 1926 – January 1, 2023 It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Mabel MacLean, lovingly known as “Nan” or “Mom”, announces her passing on January 1, 2023 at the age of 96. Joan passed away in Windsor, Ontario and will be laid to rest in Brampton, Ontario. Loving sister to John Woods, beloved wife of the late Donald MacLean and daughter to the late Mabel and Wally Woods. Joan will be forever remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed by her extended family and friends. Born in England, Joan was proud of her time in the British Women’s Land Army during World War II, where she also looked after horses and a young elephant. “Nan” loved to be with her family, and was always known for her open and warm home, delicious meals and loving company. Joan also loved to travel and cherished her fond memories of many winters spent in Florida, enjoying time with family and friends. Always having a love and connection with animals, Joan also looked forward to seeing the many wild eagles, egrets and her favourite bird “Lady” from her backyard on the Gulf of Mexico.
