Obituary of Marilyn Szalay
Szalay (Lawson), Marilyn Our beloved Marilyn passed away peacefully on November 15, 2022 in Windsor at the age of 83, with her family by her side. She will be profoundly missed by her adoring husband, Tedd. Together they celebrated an adventurous and beautiful marriage, loving and laughing for 61 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Tybor and Georgia, Todd and Nathalie, Troy and Jacqui. Grandma will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Travis, Hannah and Morgan along with step-grandchildren Matt and Amanda Haskell and great-grandchildren, Madison and Matteo. Marilyn was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving sister to Sandy Atkins (Larry, 2005), of Michigan and is also survived by her nieces, Karen Andrews and Michelle Demshuk. Born in Windsor to parents William Lawson (1995) and Kathleen Kirk (1996) on February 5, 1939, Marilyn was an employee of Bell Canada for 25 years. She was very proud of her accomplishments with the Canadian Kennel Club and won several championships with her award-winning Schnauzers, Wheaton Terriers, and Shih Tzu dogs. The many summer and winter trips to the cottages over the years with family and friends, have left indelible memories which our family will cherish for years to come. Marilyn had a love for all animals. The neighbourhood stray cats, wild turkeys and birds will miss her daily visits by the pond. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Windsor-Essex Humane Society. Sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses at Windsor Regional Hospital at both Metropolitan and Ouellette campuses for their expert and compassionate care. Marilyn’s family will be gathering privately and will announce a Celebration of Marilyn’s life at a later date. Whenever you see a beautiful flower, hear the song of a colourful bird, enjoy the shade of a tall tree, or are greeted by an energetic pup, we hope you’ll think of our Marilyn and smile.
