Don, though I did not know him so long, I am confident in saying that we the people are worse off today without him. I have seen the way he has touched so many people. I have heard the stories. I think perhaps when the kids were growing up you were everybody’s dad away from home. Driving kids here, driving kids there, being selfless and giving your best all the time. I have seen how close you were with your friends and your family. I think of the term social butterfly. Gone far two early, this butterfly has left us for a far better place. Another job to go do. We may never know what that job will be but I bet he will be the best at it. Thank you Don for being the best dad there is. Thank you for being there for Rhonda, thank you for taking her daily call. I am going to miss going over to play cards with you for hours and having you teach me about your favourite games and your favourite movies/tv shows, or having you go on and on about all the things that bugged you on the internet. Don Piper was known by many names, to me he was papa. He was always an amazing role model and has taught me many valuable life lessons, I wouldn't be the person I am today without him. I feel very lucky to have known Don Sr a longtime friend of Donnie and Rhondas their Dad always made me feel loved and welcome in the family.

What can I say about Uncle Don? I'll start by going back 34yrs ago, when my Mom, Dad, sister Maxine & I flew from NS to attend my sister Angela's wedding. I was lucky enough to stay at his place. One day we were standing around his pool and he convinced me to push my sister Maxine in, as I was laughing at her, he pushed me in and laughed at both of us. I also have a love for ACDC and one day I was enjoying my music and was extremely surprised when he said how much he enjoyed it as well. The many childhood memories I have of you will forever live on. Also thinking of my cousins at this extremely difficult time.

Uncle Don was not only our uncle, he was also like a brother to myself and my siblings. He lived with us in Harrow, and he was also with us at a farm we rented in colchester County. He use to like scaring me all the time. I feel in a lot of ways he started me on my way to teasing and scaring my siblings. After the farm house we moved to Windsor. He continued to scare the crap out of me. He would set up dummies in the basement that would absolutely freak me out everytime. Don always kept in touch with us even when we were spread all over Canada. I felt a great emptiness when I heard of his passing. I will always remember him. Words cannot express the loss of my life partner and best friend. He was a special man and brought me great joy laughter and love. Over the years Don became a treasured member of my family and his children found a special place my in my heart . Don was very devoted to my Mom and Dad , and he had a special bond with my mother. My Mom and Dad could always count on Don to help. He was a caring step-father to my children and a wonderful Papa to Judah. His children and grandchildren adored him so. If they needed a hug and a smile or some teasing he was there.

I met Don thru my friend Diane. He was funny and he was kind.
He invited me for holiday dinners and I soon felt like part of the family.I will miss his teasing and his tik tok videos. He was an amazing cook,like a chef. Pa Piper as most of us kids called him growing up, all the “actual” Piper kids friends he let into his house, sleep over every weekend, take on trips, feed meals to and treated like part of his family. Memories are such a crazy thing, at the time you never really appreciate them not knowing they may be your last memory you have to hold of that person in that moment. The last memory of you I have is from Vinny’s 13th birthday, you sitting up on the stool at the end of Rhonda s counter where you usually sat during family get together s, Diane beside you smiling and chatting. You were happy smiling with your family as you always were, it’s a great last memory I have. You are the definition of what a father should be always present, giving, loving…..Devoted! Your kids and grandkids and family came first always no one could ever argue that! You lived for them, you wore the “Best Dad”, “Best Papa” t-shirts from your kids and grandkids with pride, you owned them! I will forever think of you with memories of a little girl without a Dad being able to see how a Dad shows up for his kids, loves them and how a real Dad should be, the true definition of a true FATHER. Shine down on your kids often let them know you still have their backs even though looking down on them no longer beside them. Donnie was the True Meaning of Family
My heart goes out to Diane ,Connie, Bonnie, Donnie Rhonda and their Families and I’d like to thank you for allowing me to be there to tell your Dad I loved him and say bye to him.
I still can’t believe this is real. Donnie was always there for me when Mim passed away he helped with Pip. When Pip passed he was there for us again. I’m going to miss Donnie sending me funny videos and especially our talks.

My grandma Pat Ouellette used to walk to the bus stop to pick my sister Kyla and I up from school. Some days we would walk straight home, and other days we would stop by Don’s and sit and have a chat all together, or watch a show, or have dinner with Amber and Logan and play games.
