My deepest condolences to Gabe's family and friends. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be deeply missed. I have had the pleasure of being a neighbour of his for 10 years now, and he always had a friendly word for me whenever we passed on the sidewalk as we each walked our beloved dogs. He would often ask me "Are you keeping out of trouble!?" And I would smile and say "Yes!" And he would reply "why would you do that??" Lol! He always made me smile. And he watched over all of us in the neighbourhood, always looking out for people and standing up for what is right. I will miss seeing him out and about, his friendly waves and hellos, his signs in the yard or at his parking spot....there is noone else like him. May he now rest well in eternal peace, free from pain and strife, knowing how beloved he is, and with his beautiful golden retriever at his side. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to the family! My memories of mon oncle Gabe is centred around the barn, horses and if I remember correctly, he had a whistle on his lips to some tune that caught his fancy. Watching him race horses at Sudbury Downs was always a treat!!

I met Gabe later in my life. He was sure worth the wait. He came to me when I needed to find peace and love. We loved each other very much. He loved Erin and Bryan and helped me to raise them to become the great and wonderful people that they are today. He was a great Dad to them. We had a great life together and I am thankful he was there for me always. He loved my family Mom sisters brother and all relatives. He loved the trip that we took to Prince Edward Island to visit Bryan Jenny Isabelle and Cody. Such great memories. He always had big hugs and smile whenever Erin Kirsten and Brad came to visit. I am forever great full for the years we had together. I am missing you so much Gabe. You are my best friend and I thank you for all your love and kindness through out all the years together. Please Rest In Peace and give Elsie a big hug from me. Love you always. Nance.

This is a heart full thank you to Erin Bryan Kirsten Brad and Georgette on Gabes passing. I don’t know how I could have coped with all of this without your help. Thank you Erin for everything. You don’t know how much I appreciate you always being with me and puppa through all of this the past 2 1/2 years. Always there for us. I love you so much. Thank you Bryan for always concerned and phoning. You live far away but always there to talk to Gabe and he loved when you came to visit when he got sick. Thank you for spending the time that night with him. Kirsten thank you for all your care when Puppa was sick. You were very special to your Puppa. Brad thank you for all your help and support. Gabe was so happy for your and Erin. Georgette thank you for always being there for Gabe. He loved you very much and I thank you for all your love and support and comfort during this hard time. Gabe was like a wolf, loyal, caring, nurturing, a devoted family man ready to fight whoever dared hurt those he cherished.
Gabe was a giant of a man always ready to defend the underdog, always ready to help those less fortunate than him. He always managed to share a little of what he had, like vegetables from his garden with his neighbours and toys that he would repair then give away to the children in his neighbourhood.
Gabriel was a happy child. He would find everything funny, would like to kid around and was always laughing at everything which would annoy our father who would then become somewhat ……. irritable.
One autumn day late in November, Dad came home from hunting and of course with a big moose in the back of the wagon. Most of us were with Dad, waiting for his instructions to help him get the moose off the wagon when there goes Gabe laughing again as usual. Dad just looked at Gabe and at the moose and told Gabe “You see the moose’s antlers? Well, your mouth is as wide as those antlers”. Then he opened the moose’s mouth and said, “See those teeth, well your buck teeth are just as long and big as this moose”.
And that’s how Gabe got his nickname “Moose”.
Gabe had the heart as big as a moose and so full of love.
He touched so many people with his kind words and actions.
He just wanted everyone to get along.
Nancy, I share your pain and I share your sorrow. Gabe loved you so much and on Thursday, September 15th, he told me so. When I asked him how you were doing, he answered “Nancy’s doing just fine, I love that woman Geo and if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be talking to you today.”
As for his hearty laugh, I heard it for the last time that day though it wasn’t very strong.
So, thank you for taking such good care of my brother Nancy.
And many thanks to your children for the love and the support they gave him.

I was on a motorcycle trip passing near Windsor a few years ago and called “uncle Moose” to say hello.
He invited me to meet him at his home on the following day where we spent all afternoon telling each other stories from the past and talking about many other life experiences just like the best of friends sharing a moment in time.
I remember sitting on his front porch when all of the sudden he just got up and left to talk to a kid in the middle of the street. When he came back, he explained that he had found a broken skateboard a little while earlier and fixed it up for that kid whose family could not afford one. For me, that was just another example of my uncle’s kind heart.
We always stayed in contact after my visit and either talked on the phone or texted each other. He would often send me pictures, sometime of himself wearing his Maple Leafs jersey, other times of his garden and many more.
I will miss him dearly and cherish the memory of all the moments we had.

I remember Uncle Moose just the same way as described in his tribute.
My cousin, Claudette and I, spent a whole summer with him while we worked as summer students in Milton.
There never was a day that went by without hearing his loud boisterous laugh because he loved playing jokes on us. And, oh, how he loved to share with us his beautiful stories. He always had one or two to share with us daily.
Nonetheless, when he watched his games on television, he didn’t like to be disturbed because that was his time to relax. He would take a cold beer or drink with him to his living room chair and he got quite involved in the games that he was watching. He also got more serious and really concentrated and although we were often not watching these games with him, he always gave us an idea of what the players had done wrong as he expressed his opinion quite loudly.
I also remember him, in my mind’s eye, tending to his flowers and vegetable garden. I never understood or knew back then the reason why he planted flowers on his garden’s edge but I sure do now. Those beautiful flowers attracted pollinating insects that would help his garden grow bigger and better than anyone else’s.
Furthermore, when he brought Claudette and I to the stable where he was working at the time, I could tell how proud he was of his work and how he loved and cared for his horses.
Although he found the love of his life later on, I was always thankful that he had Nancy to share the rest of his journey with. I could always tell how much he loved Nancy because of the way he spoke so highly of her and in the end, he shared with me how she would take of him and how much he appreciated having her.
Uncle Moose, always had such a big caring heart and all he truly needed was for someone to love and care for him as much as he loved and cared for others.
So thank you Nancy, for always being there for him in the end and respecting his wishes. I know that he appreciated that with all of his heart.

I came into the Dubois family with a child from a previous relationship. From the minute Gabe met both me and my daughter he made us welcome in his home. I will always remain thankful for that.
