Obituary of Gallant, Edmond Joseph
It's with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Edmond Joseph Gallant of St. Philippe. God called him home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Edmond has reached his heavenly home, after 87 years on earth. We have no doubt that he will be greeted with open arms by family and friends that have gone before him. We wish him a safe and happy return home until we are all reunited again.
Edmond always enjoyed good company, a vibrant card game and time well spent with family and friends. Those who knew him appreciated his calm demeanour, his love for animals and his devotion for his family. In recent years, Dad was a resident of Le Chez-nous in Wellington, where he received the best of care. Thanks to all staff members for making Dad part of your family. He loved all staff members at Le Chez-nous and thought the world of them. They made his last years on earth special and enjoyable. Thank-you for looking after Dad in such a loving and caring way! A special thank you as well to the Doctors and Nurses of PCH for their excellent care provided to Dad during his last weeks on earth.
We sure hope heaven is ready for his arrival with farm like scenes, horses, cows, card games and lots of music. This earth's loss is definitely Heaven's gain.
Edmond was a farmer and bus driver by trade and a father and husband by choice. He raised, with his wife of 63 years, Eveline, a family of seven children: Leonce (Pam) Gallant, St. Philippe, Gerard Gallant, St. Philippe, Eldon (Lori) Gallant, Hunter River, Amand (Sandra) Gallant, St. Philippe, Joe Gallant, St. Philippe, Leonie (Gilles) Arsenault, Abram's Village and Leonel Gallant, Edmonton, AB. His devotion to his family and friends was next to none. We will miss his welcoming smile, his voice of reason and his funny stories.
This father and grandfather truly valued the time spent with his 7 children, his 10 grandchildren and his 9 great grandchildren. They were all very special to him. He enjoyed their company as much as they enjoyed his. Christmas time will be different now as Dad enjoyed this time of year where all would gather at the farmhouse to enjoy each other's company and of course, a delicious meal.
Edmond grew up on the family farm in St. Philippe with his parents: Joe and Lumina Gallant and his siblings: Deacon Cyrus Gallant, Andrew (Marielle) Gallant, Norma (Albert) Arsenault, and Jeannette (Gordon) Farrell.
During his lifetime on earth, Edmond always practiced his Catholic faith by attending Church in his home parish of St. Philippe & St. Jacques where he was an active member of the church choir for numerous years. The memories of his singing voice will last a lifetime in our community.
We invite everyone to join our family for a time of remembrance and appreciation of Dad's life on Friday, December 9, 2022 with visiting hours from 6 to 9 pm at the Evangeline Funeral Home., 900, Rte 124, Wellington, PE. A Catholic celebration funeral will be held in his honour on December 10, 2022 at St. Philippe & St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay at 11:00 am. After his funeral mass, Dad will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery.
Dad/Pépé may you rest in peace and may you keep watching over us like you always did and keep a special eye on Mom as she continues her journey here on earth with us waiting to be reunited with you, the angels and saints in your new heavenly home.
Love and miss you,
Eveline, Leonce, Gerard, Eldon, Amand, Joe, Leonie and Leonel.
