Obituary of Gallant, Eveline Marie
It's with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Eveline Gallant of St. Philippe. God called her home on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at 82 years of age. Eveline has reached her heavenly home where there is no doubt she will be greeted with open arms by family and friends that have gone before her but especially by her beloved husband Edmond who has just departed this world a short while ago. We wish her a safe and happy return home until we are all reunited again in heaven.
Eveline always enjoyed good company, a vibrant card game and time well spent with family and friends. Those who knew her appreciated her talents of making crazy patch work projects, knitting wool socks and mittens but especially her homemade bread and home cooked meals. Eveline was quiet and somewhat shy, but once you knew her, you enjoyed her witty sense of humour either while playing cards or while entertaining family and friends.
We sure hope heaven is ready for her arrival with plush gardens, sunny weather and lots of relatives and friends to greet her. This earth's loss is definitely Heaven's gain.
Eveline was a homemaker by trade and a mother and wife by choice. She raised, with her husband of 63 years, Edmond, a family of seven children: Leonce (Pam) Gallant, St. Philippe, Gerard Gallant, St. Philippe, Eldon (Lori) Gallant, Hunter River, Amand (Sandra) Gallant, St. Philippe, Joe (Sandy) Gallant, St. Philippe, Leonie (Gilles) Arsenault, Abram's Village and Leonel Gallant, Edmonton, AB. Her devotion to her family and friends was next to none. We will miss her welcoming smile, her sweet voice and her calm demeanour.
This mother and grandmother truly valued the time spent with her 7 children, her 10 grandchildren and her 9 great grandchildren. They were all very special to her. She enjoyed their company as much as they enjoyed hers.
A special thank you to Clinton View Lodge and Andrews of Summerside staff members for the care and compassion they showed our mother in her last two years on earth. Our family was blessed to have such a wonderful mother and we were so grateful to have the assistance of caregivers to help Mom have the best of care in her last years on earth.
Eveline grew up in Egmont Bay with her parents: Joe and Melanie Gallant and her siblings: Lucie (who died in childhood), Leo (Adelina) Gallant, Jacques (Hermine) Gallant, Camille (Ida) Gallant, Lucie (Edmond) Cormier and Vitaline (Donat) Arsenault.
During her lifetime on earth, Eveline always provided for her family, attended Church in St. Philippe & St. Jacques and always prayed for all those of us who, God only knows, needed her daily prayers. Some of us needed them more than others! She was truly a remarkable person and those who knew her, loved her.
Her last few years on earth weren't as pleasant as they could have been as Eveline was diagnosed with Alzheimer, which took our ability to enjoy her vibrant smile, her cognitive ability to converse with us and her ability to understand our regular life routines, but she was still physically with us, so we adjusted to enjoying Mom in a new way. As we feel we have loss the Mother we once knew a few years ago, her passing closes not only a chapter, but the book we were reading. Safe travels Mom, and until we meet again. Even if you left this earth before us, our love for you will never die.
We invite you all to join our family for a time of remembrance and appreciation on Friday, January 27, 2023 with visiting hours from 7 to 9 pm at the Evangeline Funeral Home, 900, Rte 124, Urbainville, PE. A Catholic celebration funeral will be held in her honour on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Philippe & St. Jacques Church, Egmont Bay at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery at a later date.
MomMémé, may you rest in peace and may you and Dad keep watching over us like you always did.
Love,
Leonce, Gerard, Eldon, Amand, Joe, Leonie, Leonel & families
