He attended Theodore School. He grew up helping out on the farm. Bob did some custom combining, worked at a mine and worked in the oil patch before coming back to the farm.

Bob met Jocelyn Laura Elizabeth Wilson at Jocelyn’s cousin’s wedding. They were married on October 14th, 1972, in the United Church at Theodore, Saskatchewan. They lived on the Payne family farm as Bob and his father farmed together. Bob and Jocelyn planted gardens, raised pigs, chickens, geese, turkeys, horses and cattle, as well as grain farming. They also raised five children: Shaun Robert born April 17th, 1973; Kerri Lynn born November 28th, 1974; Lori Ann born March 20th, 1977; Jory David born March 18th, 1980; Zachary Willard Russell born November 26, 1985.

Bob loved hunting from an early age and that love continued throughout his lifetime. He was always on the lookout for that “big” buck. He loved to be outdoors and also enjoyed quadding or snowmobiling. He loved to visit with anyone and was very outgoing. Bob was a generous person and was always willing to help a friend in need. His big smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Bob also loved to farm and was a hard worker. His family have many memories of him coming home from working in the field and being covered in dust.

In the late 70’s, Bob made the most important decision in his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as His Saviour. His faith was very important to him and he was a member of an independent Baptist church for many years.

Bob was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2022, and passed away at the Theodore Health Centre on January 2nd, 2023. We miss him, but look forward to seeing him again in Heaven someday.

Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jocelyn Payne of Theodore, his sons, Shaun (Carrie) Payne and their children, Mason Payne, Riley McNeil, Kyra McNeil (Leif) and their children, Cooper, Jemma, Elara and Nora; Jory (Tricia) Payne and their children, Adrianna (Brendon), Kassandra, Merissa, Jayden, Juliana and Isabella; Zachary Payne; his daughters, Kerri (Aaron) and their children, Kaitlyn and Brendan; Lori (Ty) and their children, McKenna, Wyatt, Caiden and Alexis; He also leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Lynne Wunder, and her son, Shane; his Uncles, Alan (Jean) Payne; Stewart (Lois) Payne; his Aunt, Mabel (John) Gottenbos, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
