Obituary of Leona Dumka

DUMKA, Leona (Violet)

October 21, 1936 to October 19, 2022

Sadly, we announce the passing of our mom - Leona Dumka on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 – 2 days before her 86th birthday. She passed away peacefully at St Paul’s Hospital in Palliative Care with her children by her side.

She was born October 21, 1936, in Saltcoats, SK, the youngest of 9 children. She met and married the love of her life Wally Dumka on November 3rd, 1954. Between 1956 and 1966 they had 4 children. Sadly, their son Greg passed away at the age of three. They moved to Saskatoon in 1963, and purchased a house which mom still resided in. Here is where their family continued to grow and they welcomed their youngest son in 1966. Leona loved her family – she had so much pride in baking and cooking for them. She kept a beautiful home and yard, which was the envy of the entire neighborhood. Leona loved the spring where she could plant flowers and grow a garden. Life was full of ups and downs but they still maintained a positive and happy outlook. Leona was warm, kind and always welcoming. One of her greatest pleasures of being a grandma, was watching the activities of her grandchildren and treating them to donuts and ice cream. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Leona is survived by her children, Sandy (Cal) Gordon, Kim (Garry) Tillman, Dean (Linda) Dumka and her 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also, her sisters, Martha Werner – and in-laws; Donald (Verna), Leonard, Robert, Marie and Donna. She was predeceased by her husband Wally, her son Greg, her parents, and seven siblings.

On behalf of the family we would like to express a huge THANK YOU to the entire team at St. Paul’s hospital, Palliative Care unit. The compassion and care were exceptional. Mom enjoyed each and every one of you!

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children’s Wish foundation, would be graciously accepted by the family.

To share memories and condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca “Guestbook-Obituaries".
