Obituary of Annie Antonishyn
<p>On Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 Annie Antonishyn (nee Halushka), resident of the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Annie was a couple of weeks away from her 98th birthday.<br /> Annie was born in the Beaverdale district on November 4th 1924 and on July 8th, 1944 married Joe Antonishyn. Annie and Joe farmed near Kelliher. In 1982 they semi-retired, moving to Kelliher. In 1995 they fully retired after many happy years of farming. Annie was an avid cook, baker, seamstress and gardener. Her perogies, cabbage rolls, bread and baking were the delight of her family. Annie could always be counted on to help at the local organizations and clubs. If they needed any help with food preparations she was always very willing to help. She was a good neighbor and friend. She was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, especially enjoying curling and figure skating. Annie enjoyed going fishing with family and friends and a good game of cards. Annie was a long time member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and the women's league.<br /> Predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Mary (nee Zahayko) Halushka; her husband Joe; her eleven siblings, eleven brothers-in-law and ten sisters-in-law. She will be sadly missed by her children: son Russ (Zarina) Antonishen; daughter Brenda (Richard) Speed; grandchildren: Sherry (Michelle), Kevin (Judy), Trenton (Teri) and Janet (Adam) Ornawka. She was a loving great grandmother to Ethan, Lyla, Franklin and Ellis. Annie is also survived by her brother-in-law, Tony Novak, and sisters-in-law Helen Halushka, Emily Shuya and Jenny Horvath. She will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 15th 2022 from St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church in Kelliher with Rev. Fr. Albert Schmitz as Celebrant.. Song-leader, Len Varga led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Like A Shepherd', 'Rest In God Alone', 'Amazing Grace', 'As We Gather At Your Table', and 'Sing A New Song'. Urnbearers were son Russ and grandson Trenton, the grandchildren were the Honorary Bearers. The interment took place in the Kelliher Memorial Gardens.
