She was 81 years of age.</p><p style="text-align:justify">A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 7th at 7:00pm from the Chapel of Leson&#39;s Funeral Home, Canora, SK.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canora with Reverend Father Petro Tsenov officiating. Those wishing to attend virtually may do so by clicking the church&#39;s live-stream link below any time after 9:45am on Saturday:<br /><a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067960088929&sk=videos">https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067960088929&sk=videos</a></p><p style="text-align:justify">The interment will take place in the Sliding Hills Christian Cemetery.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Donations may be made to a charity of one&#39;s choice as gifts of remembrance.</p><p style="text-align:justify">&nbsp;</p><p>KOROL - Marlene Korol of Canora, beloved wife of Ben Korol entered eternal rest on October 3rd at the Canora Gateway Lodge following a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.<br />Marlene was born on June 13, 1941 at Canora, Saskatchewan, a daughter of Harry and Bessie&nbsp; (nee Bordun) German. She was raised on the family farm in the Hamton district and attended Bridok School.<br />Upon completing her education, Marlene sought employment at the Canora Union Hospital as an aide. In 1960 she was united in marriage to Bohdan Korol. The couple farmed in the Donwell district and were blessed with four children.<br />Once the children left home, Marlene decided to enroll in some classes with the Kelsey Institute. She successfully completed her courses and obtained a job in the Heath Care profession. She found her job very rewarding and enjoyed working with people. Following her retirement she continued to provide assistance to a few seniors.<br />Marlene became an avid baseball fan and cheered for the Blue Jays. Along with Ben they travelled to various cities to take in a number of games that the Jays played. She had a great admiration of country music and also took in several concerts that her favourite artists performed.<br />Marlene learnt the art of braiding bread from her mother; Paskas for Easter and Kolachi for Christmas and Memorial Services. She continuously made sure her family all had a supply for these celebrations. Her hospitality could never go unnoticed as anyone who visited was always treated to food, be it her homemade baking or a full delicious meal.<br />Her Church and her faith were the most important part of her life. Regularly Ben and she would travel to various parishes to attend Liturgy. She was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Mazeppa and later also in Canora. She was a life member of the Ladies Association and worked tirelessly to support it.<br />Marlene leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband Ben; children Donna (Mel) McCormick of Canora, Brad (Nichole) Korol of&nbsp; Okotoks, AB, Lisa Korol of Regina and Darcy (Linda) Korol of Donwell; grandchildren Dylan (Rachelle), Kaitlyn (Kristian), and Bryce (Danielle) McCormick, Kyle (Caitie) and Justin (Katie) Korol and Ty Korol and a great granddaughter Amelia Korol. She is survived by two sisters Angie (Orville) Drobot and Louise (Miles) Brett and her brother Larry (Sandra) German; as well as several nieces and a nephew and many cousins and friends.<br />Marlene was a kind and caring person who genuinely loved her family and always put others before herself. She led her life as an inspiration for her family.&nbsp; She will forever be missed by all who knew her.<br />A Visitation for family and friends was held on Friday, October 7th at the Chapel of Leson&#39;s Funeral Home. The Funeral&nbsp; Service was held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canora with Rev. Father Petro Tsenov officiating. The responses were led by cantor,&nbsp; Zennovia Duch and Parish Choir Members. The cross bearer was Sharon Sobkow. The Interment took place at Sliding Hills Christian Cemetery, Mazeppa with Dylan McCormick, Bryce McCormick, Justin Korol, Kyle Korol, Ty Korol and Kaitlyn McCormick serving as the casket bearers.
