Obituary of Allan John Gelowitz

<p style="text-align: justify;">It is with heavy hearts and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Allan Gelowitz on the morning of September 12, 2022 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his wife Jane, parents John and Annie Gelowitz, parents-in-law Joe and Rose Kletchko, brother Clarence, sister Mildred, and brother-in-law Dennis. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Pat, sons Dwayne/Donna; (Bryn/Sydney [Gabriel], Alyssa/Curtis, Brianna), Norbert/Michelle; (Devin/Jackie, Tyler, Rylan), Darcy/Dawn; (Dustin/Katelyn, Deanna), Neil/Carla, Pat&rsquo;s children Tracy/Lorrie, Todd/Bobbie, Travis/Monica, Tyler/Patti, and 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, sister Freda/Mike, brother Reinold/Elsie, sister-in-law Margaret, brother Joe/Lil.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Allan lived his whole life in the Grayson district. He married Marie Jane Kletchko on May 20, 1963. They farmed five miles west of Grayson until they retired to Grayson in 1998. Jane passed away on November 6, 2003. Allan met Pat Schutz and they married on July 15, 2005. Allan&rsquo;s sons greatly appreciate and would like to acknowledge the love and care that Pat has provided to Allan over the past years.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In additional to farming, Allan and his brother Reinold built or renovated many homes around Grayson. He also played trumpet, sax and bass guitar and sang in bands for approximately 50 years, most notably with the Rhythm Orchids. He was an avid sportsman playing hockey, ball, curling and golf. He also loved to go ice fishing with friends and family during the winter.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Allan was a community and church leader who volunteered extensively. He coached hockey and ball, was involved in many community building projects and committees, was a parish leader, and the church choir director for over forty years. He served as Chairperson for the Marie St. Bernard Hospice for twenty years and was on the Credit Union Board for twenty-six years. He also served on the Heritage Board, Men&rsquo;s Club, Knights of Columbus, was a member of the senior&rsquo;s club and supported many other organizations.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">A funeral to remember and celebrate his life will be held at St. Mary&rsquo;s Parish in Grayson on September 17th at 2:00 pm. Internment and lunch to follow. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary&rsquo;s Parish fund or for mass offerings are greatly appreciated.</p>
