Obituary of Martha Gelowitz
<p>The family of Martha Gelowitz of Grayson, widow of E. Joe Gelowitz sadly announce her passing on Saturday, August 13, 2022. She was 96 years of age.</p><p>The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 3 at 10:30a.m. from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Grayson.</p><p>Interment to follow in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.</p><p>Memorials in memory of Martha may be made to Mass Offerings or St. Mary's Parish Fund as gifts of remembrance.</p><p> </p><p style="text-align:justify">Martha Gelowitz passed away peacefully on August 13, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born March 28, 1926 on the family farm just west of Grayson to Joseph and Appollonia Ottenbreit. She had 7 siblings Gertrude Ottenbreit, Clara (Anton) Exner, (Karl) Reiger, Julia (Kasper) Lang, August (Evelyn) Ottenbreit, Bill (Ann) Ottenbreit, Annie Ottenbreit, Casper Ottenbreit.</p><p style="text-align:justify"> As a young woman mom worked at the local grocery store where she fell in love with her boss E. Joe Gelowitz. They were married November 8th, 1948 and she was Blessed with an instant family. E. Joe was a widower with 5 daughters. Together they continued to run the family business and over the next 12 years welcomed 5 more children to complete their family. They shared a tremendous faith in God and dedicated many volunteer hours serving the church in several different capacities.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Mom loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed spending time with them and her friends visiting, playing cards, scrabble, bingo, and curling. When her family was grown she began working for homecare which perfectly suited her kind caring nature.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Mom was predeceased by her husband E. Joe, daughters and sons-in-law Cecilia Gelowitz, Ella (Bill) Siroishka, Bernice (Alfred) Fuchs. Her parents, her parents-in-law, all of her siblings and their spouses, all of her in-laws and their spouses and many nieces and nephews.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Left to celebrate her life well lived and mourn her passing are her daughters Hilda Gelowitz, Josephine Gelowitz, Maryanne (Larry) Hubred, Brenda (Bryce) Simes, Chrisandra (Wayne) Nohlgren, Jane (Bryon) Haas and her son Gerard (JoAnne) Gelowitz, 25 grandchildren and their spouses, 43 great grandchildren and their spouses and 2 great great grandchildren.</p><p> </p>
