Obituary of Kenneth Blight
BLIGHT - Mr. Kenneth Percy Blight of the Kellross District of Saskatchewan passed away on December 26, 2004 at his home. He was 65 years of age. Kenneth was born on August 1, 1939 on the family farm in the Kellross district of Saskatchewan a son of Percy and Margaret (nee Kelley) Blight. Kenneth was raised on the family farm and attended Eskdale School and always had memories of travelling there by horse and cutter. As a youth he was a member of the 4 - H Club. Kenneth lived and worked on the farm that he loved and passed away there. During his life Kenneth was united in marriage to Sally Kreps on January 25, 1964 in Kelliher. Together they farmed and lived in the Kellross district taking pride in the agricultural industry. Kenneth was involved with the Crosthwaite community and helped to start the Zambonie Fund in Kelliher. He was a hockey dad and enjoyed his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and curling. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory his children: Kendra Blight (Sandy Roberts), Scott (Caroline) Blight, Mark (Shelley) Blight; grandchildren: Cory and Nicole Burkholder, Darien and Mytchell Blight; sisters: Helen Mealing, Margaret Pearce, Muriel (Lorne) Fries; brother - in - law Frank DiBartlo and a sister - in - law Karen Blight along with numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth was predeceased by his wife Sally in 2002; his parents Percy and Margaret; a brother Henry, sister Ethel DiBartlo; brothers - in - law: Glen Mealing, Roy Pearce a nephew Darcy DiBartlo and a niece Lorraine Mealing. Funeral Service was held on Friday afternoon, January 7, 2005 from St. Vladimir's Church, Kelliher, Saskatchewan with Reverend Brian Mee of the United Church of Canada officiating. Special Music Selections were: "It's Never Easy To Say Goodbye" (Kenny Chesney) and "Amazing Grace" (Leanne Rhimes). Reflections of Kenneth's life were given by Brian Blight with Cory Burkholder reading the poem I've Planted Many A Kernel of Wheat. The Urn Bearers were Kenneth's grandchildren: Cory and Nicole Burkholder, Darien and Mytchell Blight. Pete Tressel, Rob Blight, William Maksymowich, Ron Thompson, Dave Johnson, Gary and Chuck Kreps, Fred Fiesel, William Pivovar and Thad Trefiak were Honorary Bearers.
