Obituary of wayne david johnston

Wayne David Johnston was born October 6, 1946 in Annapolis, Maryland. He was the son of the late Juel & Juanita Johnston. In addition to his parents Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter Kellie, great-grandson Jaxson and sister Pat Johnston. Wayne passed away January 16, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Wayne is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 46 years, Shirley Johnston. Other serving family members are daughter Sherri Tyree, grandchildren, Matthew Dillion Tyree (spouse Mariah), granddaughter Savanna, grandson Nicholas and great grandson Waylon. Wayne also leaves two sisters to cherish his memory: Diane Thomas and Deborah Johnston. Growing up in Pensacola Wayne loved driving his dune buggy that he and a friend made. Fishing and boating were two of Wayne's hobbies that he and family enjoyed for years. Wayne & Shirley lived in Raleigh, NC for over 20 years and while there they made wonderful memories camping and taking trips in their motor home. Wayne developed both skill and a love of architectural drawing and spent many years here in Pensacola working for architectural firms. He also did computer programing with a friend and could build nearly anything. Wayne was a loving and caring husband to Shirley as well as being a wonderful father figure. The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice and especially to Phoebe his nurse as well as Covenant Care at Sacred Heart. Special thanks to Mr. Joey, a neighbor, who provided family support. Also, thanks to the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church family for all the prayers offered. A Memorial Service will be held at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, Thursday, January 26, 2023, with a Visitation at 12:00 to 1:00 PM and Service at 1:00 PM.
