Obituary of rashell lynn mitchell
Rashell Lynn Hopkins Mitchell, of Pensacola, Florida was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She went to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 29, 2023 surrounded by her family at home.
Rashell was born on September 14, 1955 in Aurora, Colorado. She was the only child of Georgia and Henry Hopkins both of which have preceded her in death.
She had a fondness for music. She spent several years playing the violin and was a member of her high school orchestra.
In her younger years she loved riding horses bareback especially her childhood horses, Cindy and Sox.
She raised her children in Tallahassee, Florida for several years and that is where she met the love of her life, Paul while he was visiting family.
While living in Tallahassee she enjoyed kayaking along the Wacissa and Wakulla Rivers.
Rashell and Paul were married September 19, 1995 in California on the USS Shasta AE-33. Throughout their marriage they lived in California, Italy, Virginia and after retirement they settled in Pensacola, Florida to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
During retirement she enjoyed spending time with her husband, grandchildren and children. She loved being near the water and loved the beach.
Rashell is survived by her husband, Paul F Mitchell, Commander of United States Navy (Retired); son, Dane Mickelson; daughter, Mandy Mickelson Moore (Brian); sons Pete Pitsikoulis and Ben Powell; grandchildren, Allie, Samantha, Saxton, Alice, Luke, Rashell and extended family.
Viewing will begin at 11:30 am followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 12030 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, Florida 32506. A procession to Barrancas National Cemetery will follow where she will be laid to rest.
