Sandra Olivia Barnes-Scaife was born on February 1, 1954, to the late Mr. Son Martin and Ms. Grace M. Barnes in Troy, Alabama. She was the third oldest of nine children. On January 17, 2023, Sandra answered the Master's call and exchanged her earthly life for an eternal one. Sandra was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a member of First Church of God in Christ, now known as First Community, under the leadership of Rev. Hayward Lee. Sandra was educated in the public school system of Okaloosa County, Florida. Sandra worked for the Okaloosa County School district before retiring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Grace Foreman; father, Son Martin; sister, Mary Jean Barnes; granddaughter, Kha 'Desja Grace; niece, Karla Barnes-Odie; and her brother-in-law, Phillip Morris. Sandra leaves to cherish her memory, three children, daughters, Ericka Grace Barnes and Shannon Marlowe, both of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and her FAVORITE son, Derrick (Inger) Barnes of Crestview, Florida. Five grandchildren, Kendrick Barnes Sr., Kendra Hooks, D' Quandra Gay, Ka'Liyah and Kadynn Marlowe; four great-grandchildren, Kendrick Jr., Qui Mani, Elijah, and Kensley; seven siblings, Diane Barnes, Janice (Marc) Jenkins, Keith Foreman, John (Dora) Foreman, Phyllis Morris, Tracy Foreman, and Rodney (Shante') Foreman; two aunts, Linda Carney and Billie (Phillip) Goudy; uncle, Alfred (Evelyn) Barnes; two special nieces, Tosha Potter and Terrisa Foreman; and a special nephew, Karl Barnes, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sandra affectionally known as "San" was the epitome of LOVE. Sandra had an avid love for good music with Barry White and Bobby Womack being her two favorite artists. Sandra loved to sit on her front porch relaxing while enjoying her music. The love she shared with her family and friends will forever be engraved in her loved ones' heart. San was a caring person who provided comfort and solace while asking for little in return. Sandra's highlight of the week was when her children and grandchildren would gather at her home for Sunday dinner, to make sure the family tradition her mother started carried on. She embedded integrity, loyalty, and compassion into her children. Her children grew into adults who exhibit the best aspects of their respective mother. She never failed to be anything less than excellent, as a mother. Nothing brought Sandra more joy than knowing her children were happy and safe. She always said how everything changed for her when she had her children. Her family was her sole focus, and she took care of them until the end.
