Obituary of Gracie Myrtice Everett
Gracie Myrtice Everette, 89, of Dozier, Alabama passed on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
Gracie M. Everett, 90, gained her eternal wings and went to glory on November 19, 2022, joining her loving husband in heaven. Gracie was born in Crenshaw County, in the community of Dozier, Alabama. She graduated from Crenshaw County Training School and continued her education, attending Alabama State College, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She met and married Ferby Everett, moving to Niagara Falls, New York and later to Pensacola, Florida. She became a teacher, employed in Starke, FL, Century, FL and Warrington, Pensacola, FL. Gracie loved teaching and spent the next 36 years at different middle and high schools, retiring in June 1992. Gracie was an active member of her beloved St. John Baptist Church, located in Pensacola, FL, serving in different capacities for many years. She was also involved with The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter Electa #61 and the National Council of Negro Women. Gracie loved her family, becoming a founding member of the Brundidge Family Reunion and assisting with the future meetings.
Gracie was proceeded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Ferby C. Everett; siblings and Sister-in-Law, Jack (Ethel) Lamar (Niagara Falls, NY), James E. Lamar (Montgomery, AL), and Evie Lucille Lamar (Paterson, NJ).
Gracie leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Jerelene Kilpatrick of Paterson, NJ; a faithful and devoted niece, Veronica L. Ferguson of Shorter, AL; as well as her step-children with husband Ferby C. Everett; Ethel Kendricks of Buffalo, NY, Thelma (Michael) Underwood of Enterprise, AL; Calvin Jefferson of Lithonia, GA, Ferby, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Paul of Niagara Falls, NY; sister-in-law, Annie J. Alexander of Montgomery, AL; nephews and nieces, Derrick J. Lamar (Kim) of Parsippany, NJ, Harold Darnell Dockett (Donna) of Bloomfield, NJ, Pamela Lamar-Dukes (Charles) of Miami Gardens, FL, and Deric J. Lamar of Homestead, FL; dedicated and loving cousins Ruby and Robin Richburg of Pensacola, FL; special friends Gwendolyn Silas and Delois Rhodes of Pensacola; special church members Pam and Curtis Brown, Mary Carter and Theresa Smith all of Pensacola, Florida; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loving church members.
Funeral visitation and service will be held at St. John Baptist Church St. John Baptist Church 1000 North Pace Boulevard Pensacola, Florida 32501. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 am and 12:00 pm respectively. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following the service.
