Obituary of Dan Kozmech

Dan Kozmech was born on October 10, 1914 at Hamton, Saskatchewan, the seventh of twelve children born to N icholai and Katrina (nee Zvizinski) Kozmech. On October 27, 1935 Dan was united in marriage to Mary Prokopetz at Saint of Uspenia Bohorodyci Greek Orthodox Church, Rhein, Saskatchewan. From his youth Dan was a farmer at heart. In 1949 Dan and Mary purchased a half section of land in the Hamton district which they actively farmed until 1991. Dan loved hard work and was a perfectionist.He was involved in the Hamton Community Hall renovation and expansion periods and area road snow plowing in the 1950 's. The family moved to Yorkton in 1962. He was a parishioner of Holy Transfiguration Church in Yorkton. Dan passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 18, 1999 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 85 years of age. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter; six sisters, Polly, Helen, Sadie, Mary, Lena and Domka; and three brothers, John, William and Steve. Dan leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Mary of 64 years; his son Terrence (Brenda) Kozmech; grandsons, Kevin (Stacy) Kozmech and Aaron Kozmech and great grandson Keenan Kozmech, all of Edmonton, Alberta. He also leaves to mourn his passing, brothers, Fred (Alvina) Kozmech and George Kozmech of Yorkton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
