Obituary of Olga Fandrey

FANDREY - Mrs. Olga Fandrey, resident of Yorkton, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Yorkton Regional Hospital. She was 93 years of age. Olga Fandrey was born on July 7, 1911 in Volynia, Russia; a daughter of Emma (nee Zichau) and Edward Patzer. In 1913, at the age of two, Olga came with her parents to Canada. She grew up in the Ebenezer district, first in the village, and later on the farm. At the age of 16, she was baptized by Rev. A. Ratchowsky and became a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. On October 5, 1930 she was united in marriage to Edward Reinhold Fandrey at Ebenezer. The couple farmed in the Ebenezer district for 35 years until their retirement in 1965, at which time they moved into Yorkton. Edward predeceased Olga on November 27, 1982. Olga maintained her own home for a few years before establishing a new residence at the Victoria Court in September of 1987. Olga greatly enjoyed the Victoria Court, making many new friends throughout the 17 years she resided there. As her health declined, Olga became a resident of the Angel Care Personal Care Home in Yorkton in July of 2004. Throughout her life, Olga had been a strong supporter of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and later the Central and Heritage Baptist Churches in Yorkton. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; daughter-in-law Marilyn; and brothers Laurence, Arnold, Eric and Wilfred Patzer. She leaves to cherish her memory her four children: Lorne (Grace) Fandrey of Yorkton; Arlan (Marlene) Fandrey of Yorkton, Daphne Wilson of Calgary, and Ken (Karen) Fandrey of Yorkton; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; brothers: Allan (Lyla) Patzer of Ebenezer and Harold (Elaine) Patzer of Yorkton; sisters: Edna Bohn of Ebenezer and Alice Mayer of Calgary; sisters-in-law: Olive Patzer of Saskatoon and Frances Patzer of Ebenezer; numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Monday, March 28, 2005 from the Heritage Baptist Church in Yorkton. Pastor Bob Ratzliff officiated. On behalf of the family, son Arlan gave the tribute. The organist, Elaine Patzer led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, Trust & Obey, Because He Lives, and He Lives. A duet of Joyce Guse and Pat Patzer sang Over the Sunset Mountains. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Clarence Hoffman, Dale and Vance Bohn, Ches and Darryl Patzer and Grant Fandrey serving as the casketbearers.
