Obituary of Bill Biliak

BILIAK - Mr. Bill Biliak of Yorkton passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 92 years of age. Bill was born on March 14, 1913 in the Insinger district of Saskatchewan; a son of Oksana (nee Rebko) and Andrew Biliak. Bill was raised on the family farm, but unfortunately with a speech impediment Bill never attended school. He remained at home, helping with all the chores and duties around the farm. His mother died in 1941, Bill and his sister Annie remained on the farm to help their father. Although he spoke little, Bill was an excellent man to have around the farm, he worked hard and also helped many other farmers in the district whenever he was called upon. He never refused his neighbors and everybody appreciated his work. Bill riding on his John Deere tractor was a common sight in the district. He also enjoyed tending to the needs of the livestock on the farm. In 1979, father Andrew passed away, Bill and his sister Annie moved to Foam Lake in 1981, and then to Yorkton in 1988, where they had since resided. Bill had become a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home April 3, 2003. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers John in infancy in 1920 and Ernest (Kost) in 1995; sisters Mary in 1943, Dora in 1973, Kay in 1996, and Annie in 2002. He is survived by a brother Al of Yorkton; two sisters: Nellie Boychuk of Yorkton and Victoria (Steve) Pacholko of Regina; nephews & nieces: Garry (Lucy) Biliak of Regina, Curtis (Peggy) Biliak of Saskatoon, Howard Biliak of Toronto, Leanne (Steve) Dunn of Calgary, Stuart Pacholko of Regina; and their families. The funeral service was held on Thursday, November 10th at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Mr. Eugene Mellish of the Yorkton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. The interment followed in the family plot at Yorkton City Cemetery with Rodney Denesyk, Randy Prokopchuk, Gerry Biliak, Curtis Biliak, Stuart Pacholko and Simon deGroot serving as the casket bearers.
