Obituary of patricia eileen kay
Patricia Eileen Kay, 79, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022 at Covenant Care Hospice after an extended illness.
Pat was born on February 22, 1943 to Hubert Lionel Emond and Myrtle Antonina McLaughlin in Pensacola, Florida. After Pat graduated from Escambia High School in 1961, she married John Wesley Johnson and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. They had two children, Cathi Darlene Johnson and Jennifer Danielle Johnson.
In the late 1970�s, she began work at Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent-Norcross, Georgia where she worked in the fiber optics department as a project manager. She retired from Lucent after many enjoyable years making life-long friends. In 1982 she married Gene Kay. They enjoyed playing competitive tennis with the ALTA tennis league and many trips with friends skiing, camping, and fishing. They eventually moved to Pensacola, Florida where they continued their enjoyment of tennis. Pat also enjoyed gardening, tending to her multiple birds, the ocean, collecting mermaids, reading, taking care of her beloved beagles, and daily visits from a heron that she playfully named Karen. She was also an avid supporter of her cherished animal charities; ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society & Pensacola Hotel for Dogs and Cats.
Pat was predeceased by her mother and father, Thore and Myrtle Carlin, and brothers David and Jerry Carlin. She is survived by husband Gene Kay; daughters Cathi Dailey and Jennifer Braswell; sons-in-law Robert Dailey and Jason Braswell; stepdaughter Dee Ann Kay; stepson Steve Kay; brothers Butch and Johnnie Carlin; sister Theresa Hardin, and half-sister Kathy Emond Royce; five grandchildren Zac and Mac Bui, Savannah and Grayson Braswell, Kacey Ann Loving and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at a celebration of life service to be held at Perdido Bay United Methodist Church, 13660 Innerarity Point Road, Pensacola, Florida 32507 on January 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. A live stream of the service will also be available on the Perdido Bay United Methodist Church Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your choice of animal charity, the ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society or Pensacola Hotel for Dogs and Cats; all organizations she adored.
