Benny Alexander Fields, Jr., 79, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, September 8, 2022. He was born in Petersburg, Virginia on November 19, 1942 to Benny Alexander Fields Sr. and Alice Virginia Fields (Brooks).
Benny was known as a people person who loved his family and his friendships. He was the most generous soul and would help anyone if asked. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served multiple tours in Vietnam. Additionally, he boxed for the U.S. Air Force Boxing Team. Benny was a dedicated Civil Engineer and RED HORSE Airman and ultimately transitioned to Military Welfare Recreation Open Mess Management Superintendent. He achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) and served faithfully for 28 years of active duty before retiring in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He served the local community by coaching the local boxing team at Chester Pruitt Recreation Center. Benny enjoyed basketball, football, mentoring, and coaching the youth. Benny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and community mentor.
Benny is survived by his life-long spouse and soulmate, Kyong H. Fields; son and daughter-in-law, Benny A. Fields III and Robyn K. Fields; son, Richard L. Fields; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra L. and Sean Bailey; grandsons, Benny A. Fields IV, Jordan L. Fields, Eric J. Lara, Richard L. Fields Jr., and Spencer M. Bailey; granddaughters, Aria L. Fields, Kayla A. Fields, and Sophia S. Bailey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benny A. Fields Sr. and Alice Virginia Fields (Brooks).
Benny will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida by his family in a private ceremony at a future date. He will be forever missed.
