Obituary of darryl francis fields
Darryl F. Fields, age 73, of Destin, Florida went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 7, 2022.
Darryl was born in Richmond, Indiana on September 19, 1949 to Francis M. and Glady's C. Fields. He graduated from Troy State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He married Vicki Gutshall Fields on May 26, 1979.
He proudly served the U.S. Air Force from 1967 through August 1971, as an Operations Specialist, Combat information officer and NCOIC Air Operations and Plans. He completed two tours during the Vietnam War. His reconnaissance group was known as the Batcats.
Darryl served as a Detective with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, Special Investigator for the First Judicial Circuit Narcotics Task Force, ICE Agent, Deputy Sheriff Lee County Sheriff's office, and investigator with the 20th Circuit Medical Examiners office.
He was a member of the Alpha Lodge 172 in Fort Walton Beach, Air Commando Association, and the American Legion.
Darryl's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a avid Band supporter of the Fort Walton Beach High School Band. He coached and sponsored Little League baseball in Destin. As an active dad, he was also the official bus driver to many taekwondo tournaments.
Darryl loved music, classic cars, and his fur babies. He is survived by his wife, Vicki; sons, Brandon (Kara) and Derek (Jamie); Tara Fields, and the loves of his life, his precious grandchildren, Cadence (9), Jace (5), and Lyla (2).

Friends received Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 101 Mary Esther Blvd, Mary Esther, FL 32569 from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Pastor Marty Mclean officiating. Masonic Rites to follow, Burial will be at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 NW Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548 with Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
