Obituary of randy joe lawson
Randy Joe Lawson, 64, of Shalimar, Florida, passed away at home on Monday, November 14, with his wife Suzi Q and dear friend Bill by his side.
He was born in Orlando, Florida on February 27, 1958. He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Randy and Suzi Q have resided in Shalimar together since 1994, and the two were married in 1999.
After high school, he worked offshore as a winch operator as part of an anchor boat crew. He continued to work offshore for more than 11 years, for companies including Exxon Mobile and Chevron. In his later years, he worked in the construction and maintenance industry. His construction buddies nicknamed him Turkadilla, which came from a funny Thanksgiving story he loved to tell.
Randy was never without a humorous story and was always quick with a joke. He had a warm smile and lit up every room he walked into. He was a big ham, and friends loved his rendition of If I Were the King of the Forrrrrrest from the film The Wizard of Oz. He loved music and in earlier days he could often be heard singing Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf while jamming out with his two twin buddies, Jerry and Gary. He was a big movie buff and especially loved westerns, comedy and horror movies.
Randy is survived by his wife, Suzi Q; stepdaughter,Hana and her husband, Richard; a brother and sister, a half brother and sister, a wonderful group of colorful, rowdy friends, and his beloved dog, Emma Joe.
His sense of humor, smile and wittiness will be missed by many. A small, informal celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
