Obituary of Bert Leroy 'Roy' Carver
CARVER, Bert Leroy 'Roy' - 84, Port Hood, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Born in Stanley Section, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Maurice and Mabel (Mader) Carver, Sr.
He was a retired lineman with Nova Scotia Power Commission, an active member of St. Stephen's United Church, Port Hood, a member of Port Hood and District Volunteer Fire Department, a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the 6th Anti Tank Regiment, Royal Canadian Army, and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 132, Inverness. Roy was a devoted husband and father of two.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Doris Gillis; daughters, Lorna (Donald) Poirier, Judique; Lisa (Chris Armit) Carver, Halifax; stepmother, Mildred Carver, Stanley Section; sisters, Marjorie Mailman and Helen Pentz, both of Bridgewater; brother, Wilfred (Carrie), Morristown; grandchildren, Charlene and Bradley Poirier; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Maurice Jr.; sisters, Jean and Anne.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. this evening and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Port Hood Community Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. Stephen's United Church, Linda Stumpf officiating. Burial will be in Union Protestant Cemetery. Donations in memory of Roy may be made to St. Stephen's United Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
