Obituary of John Fredrick “Jack” Bond
BOND, John Fredrick 'Jack' - 76, Little Dover, formerly of Canso, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late John F. and Stella (Rhynold) Bond. He was a town engineer for 42 years in Canso, honorary member and past chief serving 37 years with Canso Fire Department, past member of Municipal Development Offices Association, past member of American Water Works Association, 10 year Auxiliary member for the RCMP in Canso, Town Constable in Canso and a member of the Star of the Sea Parish. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, the former Mary Bernice Casey; daughter, Theresa Bond, Cole Harbour; sons, Wayne (Marie) Sullivan, Terry (Wanda) Sullivan, both of Canso; Frank (Della) Sullivan, Hazel Hill; Graham (Lynn) Bond, Prospect Bay; Michael (Donnette) Bond, Clarenville, NL; Carl (Mary Lou) Bond, Hazel Hill; sisters, Nellie Lewis, Glace Bay; Anita Gavin, Cape George; Marie King, Evanston; Catherine Himeon, Dartmouth; Margie Penny, Canso; brother, Walter, Canso; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Van Gerard; brothers, Dave and Charlie; sisters, Jean, Florence, and baby, Margie.
Visitation will be today from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Star of the Sea Church, Canso, Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in Jack's memory can be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso, or a charity of one's choice.
