Obituary of Glenn A. Spencer

Elizabeth City, NC Glenn Ashley Spencer, age 78 of 405 W. Main St., Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He was born in Pasquotank Co., NC; son of the late Joseph Carroll and Hazel Drinkwater Spencer and was the husband of Claudia Long Spencer of the residence. He was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendents, The Family Research Society of Northeastern North Carolina, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the 397th Bomb Group Association. He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and was a member of City Road United Methodist Church. He was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army Air Corp and retired from Civil Service. Besides his wife, Mr. Spencer is survived by a daughter, Glenda S. James of Nags Head, NC; a son, Jeffrey Long Spencer of Elizabeth City, NC; two grandsons, Scott Ashley James of Creswell, NC and Jason Harley James of Nags Head, NC; and a great granddaughter, Ashley James of Creswell, NC. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 3:00 PM in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Charles McKenzie officiating. Military honors will be performed by the William Clarence Jackson Post # 6060 of V. F. W. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E.
