Obituary of Madge S. Goodwin

Madge Simpson Goodwin, 79, of 203 Queen Street, Elizabeth City, NC died Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Perquimans County, NC, the daughter of the late Matthew Grover and Ella Mae Beale Simpson and was the widow of Thomas Roy Goodwin. She was a former nurse at the Chowan and Albemarle Hospitals and was a member of the Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church and the Nurse’s Association. Mrs. Goodwin is survived by one daughter, Joan Goodwin Forehand of Portsmouth, VA; one sister, Myrtle Davenport of Edenton, NC; two grandchildren, Cindy Harris and husband Darren and Matt Forehand all of Chesapeake, VA; and two great grandchildren, Brandon and Rachel Harris both of Chesapeake, VA. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bradley Louise Goodwin and two sisters, Louise Pratt and Doris Forehand. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at 3:00 pm at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bob Crisp officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, NC. The family will be at the residence.
