Obituary of Samuel Jolly, Jr.

Col. Ret. Samuel B. Jolly, Jr., 72, of Swan Circle, Point Harbor, NC, died Monday morning, November 25, 2002, at his residence. He was born in Wilmington, NC to the late Samuel B. and Adelle Singletary Jolly. Col. Jolly retired from the U. S. Air Force after 24 years of service; he was a member and deacon of the Powells Point Baptist Church and was very active in the Chowan Baptist Association. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jo Ann Maultsby Jolly; two sons, Stephen A. Jolly of Virginia Beach, VA and Joseph S. Jolly of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Jennifer Marsh of Chapin, SC; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at 2:00pm in the Powells Point Baptist Church by Revs. Herbert Hemingway and Eugene McLawhorn. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with military honors. The family suggests memorial gifts may be made to Powells Point Baptist Church, P. O. Box 328, Powells Point, NC 27966 or to the Lower Currituck Co. Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 486, Grandy, NC 27932. Twiford’s Funeral Home, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC is in charge of arrangements. The family will be at their residence.
